Julia threw on the warmest and fuzziest jacked she could find, getting a whiff of the peachy scent of the coat before realizing it was Santana's. Julia wrapped it around herself even tighter, knowing Santana wouldn't mind if she took it.
"Where you going?" Julia heard her favorite voice from the doorway which caused her to spin on her heels.
"To the homeless shelter," Julia sighed, Santana furrowing her eyebrows at her girlfriend's response since they had to leave in a little under an hour to shoot the Lima PBS Christmas special.
"Wait...what?"
"I already told Artie," Julia said, walking toward Santana who leaned against the door frame of what had basically become her shared room with Julia. "I'm not gonna shoot the Christmas special with you guys. Quinn's gonna pick me up and we're gonna go to the homeless shelter."
"Why not? You've always wanted to be on TV," Santana slightly pouted as she took a step closer to Julia, reaching her hand out to move the loose strands of hair out of Julia's face.
"I know, but...seeing Isla and her adorable little smile when we gave her her present...I want to see a whole room of little kids looking as happy as her. I may sorta be a bitch, but those little babies are my weakness, you know that," Julia told her girlfriend. "You can go and do the Christmas spectacular but I just don't want to let all those little kids down."
There was a short moment of silence as Santana stared into Julia's emerald eyes.
"Well, even if you're 'sorta a bitch', you're a way better person than I am," Santana sadly smiled, showing Julia she would be okay with doing the Christmas special without her.
Julia's lips edged upward before she fell into Santana's arms, wrapping her arms around Santana's torso.
"I'm gonna miss you though," Santana murmured, Julia sighing at the comment.
"I'm gonna miss you too. But I'll see you afterward, right?" Julia hopefully questioned, letting her chin rest on Santana's shoulder.
"Right," Santana replied before she pulled her head away from Julia's shoulder in order to peck her girlfriend's lips. "But really, you're such an amazing person."

As a man attempted to play Jingle Bells on the piano, Julia stood between two of her favorite blondes, scooping mashed potatoes onto little kids' plates. Even if the shelter was small, over crowded, and smelled horrible, Julia kept a smile plastered onto her face
"How do you do that?" Quinn asked, glancing over at her freckled best friend.
"Hmm?"
"How are you always smiling like that?" Quinn questioned.
"Well, you see, it's actually not that hard. I read somewhere that you only have to use 43 muscles to-"
"No, you idiot, you know what I mean," Quinn rolled her eyes at the Latina who chuckled in response.
"We have a lot to smile about, Quinny," Julia told the blonde who couldn't help but roll her eyes again, clearly thinking the opposite. "We're not on the other side of this line, that's something to smile about. There's people that love us, there's another thing. You're not smoking anymore and you dyed your hair back, so that's good."
Quinn couldn't help but laugh and shake her head at Julia's reasons as the two continued to serve plates of food.
"We have a whole lot to smile about, but these kids don't," Julia said, starting to get a bit more serious as Quinn fixed her gaze on Julia who still held her smile. "So if my smile, even if it's a bit forced sometimes, can make one of these kids smile, then I'm happy with myself."
