After lunch, you went to your elective class (you pick) then off to potions. You walked into the class room and noticed it didn't smell like is usually did. The room smelled like a campfire on the beach, on a clear summer's night.
You looked around the room and saw that Potter and his friends were sitting with Ernie McMillan from Hufflepuff. There were four Ravenclaws sitting at a table together and at the last table, was Draco, Nott, Zabini, and another Slytherin. You walked over and sat down between Draco and Zabini. Zabini gave you a dirty look but said nothing. Draco was too busy talking to Nott to notice you sit down. You pulled his book out from under his arm, which made him look at you.
"I thought you were mad at me." Draco said.
"I am, but we'll talk about that later." You nodded at the front of the class. The guy standing at the frunt, must have been Slughorn, because he started speaking. Sitting in frunt of him was four cauldrons. He pointed at thw 1st one and asked if anyone knew what is was. It looked like boiling water. It was Granger that answered saying it was Veritaserum. You knew about it, you had read about it in the potion books.
"It's a truth potion..." You heard Granger say. You weren't really listening, because you thought about how useful it would be to use on Draco. He would have to tell you the truth to any question you asked him.
Slughorn pointed at the second cauldron. Again he asked what it was and again it was Granger who answered with "Polyjuice." You knew that one too, only because you caught Granger making it back in your second year. She was making it so that Weasley, Potter and herself could sneak into the Slytherin common room. The third cauldron, Granger also knew.
"Amortentia" she said. Slughorn looked amazed saying she must have known by the mother of pearl color. Granger started rambling on how it smelled different to each person.
"I can smell, freshly mowed grass and new parchment and..." Granger trailed off, truning pink.
'That's probably why I'm smelling thw ocean.' You thought as you looked at Draco. While Slughorn spoke to Granger, you thought about what Draco might be smelling. Draco leaned into Nott and whispered something. By the look on Notts face, you figured it wasn't something you would approve of.
"Pay attention." You whispered and nudged Draco. He gave you a dirty look just as Slughorn started saying that the love potion was the most dangerous and powerful potion in the room. Draco and Nott both smerked.
"Oh yes..." Slughorn said, speaking to the your table. You eyed Draco. 'What was that smirk for?' You thought.
The class finally started, when McMillan pointed out that the fourth cauldron hadn't been explained.
"Felix Felicis" Slughorn said and Granger explained that it was liquid luck. Slughorn told the class that it would be a prize to thw student who could make the best potion during class. He told thw class to open their books and get started. Draco grabbed his book and flipped though it. You rolled your eyes and when he got to the right page, you read the ingredients list.
"How are you going to do this? You didn't get anything for this class." Draco asked. You pointed at Potter and Weasley.
"The same way they are." You said as the two were walking back from the classroom store cubards. You stood and did the same. You did your best, but you weren't exactly that great at potions.
"Sir, I think your knew my grandfather, Abraxas Malfoy." Draco said as Slughorn walked by the table.
"Yes," he replied stopping and not looking at back at Draco. "I was sorry to hear that he had died. Although, of course, it wasn't unexpected, Dragonpox, at his age?" Slughorn finished saying and walked away. Draco gave him a dirty look and went back to the cauldron.
After a while, Slughorn called for the class to stop. He walked around the classroom looking at each cauldron. He went up to Potter and got excited.
"The clear winner!" He said and gave the Felix Felicis to Potter. Draco didn't look to happy. You rolled your eyes at him.
After class was over, you made your way over the the star room. You sat down on the couch and waited for Draco. Although, you didn't actually expect him to come, so when the door opend and Draco sat down, it surprised you.
"Why did you want the Felix Felicis?" You asked him.
"Didn't you want it?" Draco asked you confused.
"Not really, I don't need it." You said and looked into the flameless fire place. "I mean, yeah it would be nice to have a day full of nothing but luck, but my live isn't that bad." You looked back at Draco.
"Oh..." Draco whispered. He seemed to not know what to say. You smiled at him.
"What did you smell when you walked into the classroom?" You asked him.
"It did smell differently, didn't it?" Draco said. "It smelled like..." he looked up, clearly trying to place the smell. "Well," he looked back at you. "Kind of like the garden where we first met." You smiled at him. "What?"
"You know what I could smell?" You asked him.
"You didn't smell that?" Draco looked perplexed.
"Draco, you weren't paying attention, were you?" You asked him. "The love potion." You reminded him.
"I could smell a wood fire and salt water." You said.
Draco looked into the fireplace. "Incendio!" Flames emerged from the wood with in.
"Do you understand why I was mad?" You said after a minute.
"Yeah, and I've already explained it to you. It just easier...." Draco started then looked at you. You were giving him a 'Don't say it' look. "Ok, I will talk to Perkinson." You layed your head on Draco's shoulder.
"Good, cuz you're my boyfriend, not hers." You whispered.
