Draco sat down across from you. The girl he sat down next to, gave him a dirty look and scooted away. He looked angry.
"What's up?" You asked, as he handed over the letter he was reading back at the Slytherin table.
'Draco, I can't say much incase this letter is intercepted. Your father, and a few of the others, are in a bad spot. Stay clear of those who you do not trust. Love, your mother.' You read the letter silently to yourself.
"What's it say?" Sam asked. You looked back at Draco, then at Sam. You didn't like lieing to her, but you also didn't want to tell her what the letter said. She knew that Draco's dad was a Death Eater. But you did not want her to get all made again like she did when she read what Potter said in the Quibbler a few months back.
"My father's ill." Draco lied.
"And that makes you angry?" Sam asked, confused.
"Yes!" He spat and walked off.
"Well, he sure has some anger issues." Sam pointed out.
"He's upset. I would be too." You said, watching Draco leave the Great Hall.
Draco was in a bad mood for the next two days. You tryed to get him to calm down to no avail. On the third day, the Sunday, Daily Prophet came. You read it to your self while eating breakfast.
'HE-WHO-MUST-NOT-BE-NAMED RETRUNS
In a brief statement Friday night, Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge confirmed that He-Who-Must-Not-Be Named has returned to this country and is active once more. "It is with great regret that I must confirm that the wizard styling himself Lord - well, you know who I mean - is alive and among us again," said Fudge, looking tired and flustered as he addressed reporters. "It is with almost equal regret that we report the mass revolt of the Dementors of Azkaban, who have shown themselves averse to continuing in the Ministry's employ. We believe that the dementors are currently taking direction from Lord - Thingy. We urge the magical population to remain vigilant. The Ministry is currently publishing guides to elementary home and personal defence that will be delivered free to all wizarding homes within the coming month." The Minister's statement was met with dismay and alarm from the wizarding community, which as recently as last Wednesday was receiving Ministry assurances that there was "no truth whatsoever in these persistent rumours that You-Know-Who is operating amongst us once more." Details of the events that led to the Ministry turnaround are still hazy, though it is believed that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and a select band of followers (known as Death Eaters) gained entry to the Ministry of Magic itself on Thursday evening. Albus Dumbledore, newly reinstated Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witch craft and Wizarding, reinstated member of the National federation of wizards and reinstated Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, was unavailable for comment last night. He has insisted for a year that You-Know-Who was not dead, as was widely hoped and believed, but recruiting followers once more for a fresh attempt to seize power. Meanwhile, the Boy Who Lived, had a long voice of truth, and pereceived as unbalanced, yet never wavered in his story. Harry Potter was forced to bear ridicule and slander from many. We now know that he was telling the truth. Just as you finished reading the article, Draco sat down across from you and pulled the paper down so you could see him.
"Hi." You said, seeing his annoyed expression. He didn't say anything but handed over another letter.
'Draco, he's really angry. Your father failed and was taken away by the Arours...' you read and looked up.
"So, your father was caught as one of them?" You whispered. He nodded. You were glad that Sam was still in bed. She would have had something to say about that. Draco's dad was a Death Eater, and as Sam knew that, she would just bring it all back up. You got up and left the Great Hall with Draco right behind you. You went to the star room so you could talk freely.
"I think that the day Potter and his friends all left the school to go to the Ministry, was the same day that the article is talking about." Draco said, as you shut the door. You nodded in agreement and sat beside him on the couch. He pulled his wand out and started the fire.
"I'm sorry, sweetie." You said sympathetically, as you pulled your feet up onto the couch and leaned into Draco.
"We should go get packed." You said a few minutes later, while you and Draco staired into the flames. "We leave the school in just a few more days." You looked up at him. "And just so you know, I'm not looking forward to going to the manner and dealing with what's going on there."
"Me neither," Draco agreed, looking worried. "I would rather just stay here over the summer, and you know how much I hate that thought." You sat up.
"I know," you pecked him on the cheek and got up. "I'll catch up with you later. I'm sure Sam's up by now." Draco nodded and let you go. You went back to the Great Hall and found Sam. She was reading the article you had read earlier. You sat down beside her.
"Oh, morning." She said to you, once she was done reading. "Have you read this?" You nodded. "Do you think Draco's father was of the Death Eaters captured?"
"He was." You whispered.
"(Y/n)," Sam said in a concerned tone and truned so she was facing you. "I don't want to sound like I'm telling you how to live, but I really think Draco's bad news."
"Why? Because his father is evil? That dosent make Draco a bad person." You said defensively.
"I'm just saying that its possible for him to trun out like his family." Sam said argued back.
"He is nothing like his parents." You spat.
"I don't want to see you get hurt." Sam spat in return. The argument progressed for a couple of minutes ending in Sam saying, "It's either me or him!"
"You're making me choose?" You asked, sounding shocked. You had been friends with Sam sence the first day at Hogwarts. Was she really going to make you choose?
"Yes!" She said sternly.
"I can't do that." You said softly.
"Then I'll make it easy for you." She said and left you sitting at the table alone.
"Sam!" You called after her as she stormed out of the hall. You got up from the table and headed back to the star room to talk to Draco. You where entered the entrance hall and saw Draco, Crabbe, Goyle and Potter standing at the marble staircase.
"I'm going to make you pay for what you've done to my father." Draco said.
"Well, I'm terrified now. I suppose Lord Voldemort's just a warm up act compared to you three" Potter said sarcasticly as Draco and his friends winced at his name. "What's the matter? He's your dad's mate, isn't he? Not scared of him, are you?"
"You think your such a big man, Potter. You wait. I'll have you. You can't land my father in prison." Draco growled.
"I thought I just had." Harry said
"The dementors have left Azkaban. Dad and the others'll be out in no time." Draco said as the three boys walked closer to Potter.
"Yeah, I expect they will. Still at least everyone knows what scumbags they are now." Potter said. Draco went for his wand but Potter pulled his out first. Just then Snape came onto the scene, then McGonagall came threw the doors leaning on a walking stick. You watched as the two teachers spoke and rubies fell into the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw house point counters in the Great hall. Potter went outside after that, and the teachers left Draco and his friends in the hall.
