Once you got to the castle, you walked in, and saw McGonagall standing at the top of a staircase. She started talking, but you weren't really paying attention to her. You were too busy admiring the beauty of the old castle walls. Soon you started walking, and ended up in a large room with four different long tables. All the new students stopped in the middle. You could hear a girl saying that the great hall was enchanted to take on the look of the sky out side, and that she read that in a book called Hogwarts: A History. She seemed to be one of those students who though they knew everything.
Draco found his way to you. You were still mad at him for assuming that you weren't vary resourceful, or that you didnt have ambition.
"Wow, I didn't realize how fast you are." He said catching his breath. You didn't look at him, or even engknowlage him in anyway.
"Hey, are you really that mad at me?" Draco asked, although you still ignored him. You wanted to scream at him to go away. Why was he so fastened with you?
His friends found you and Draco, and walked over, pushing their way through the crowd. Once they got there, they started talking to the boy you were so livid with. You saw your opportunity to flee the scene. You snuck off further into the crowd. You heard Pansy Perkinson ask where you went, and you couldn't help but smile. It had worked.
The staff seemed to be all on the stage, sitting in the back at a long table. There wasn't many of them there. There was no way that was all the staff.
An old man, who was sitting in the middle with a vary long white beard, stood up and introduced himself as Dumbledore, the headmaster of this strange school.
McGonagall walked up on the stage, and gestured to an old brown witches hat. She continued to explain what it was, and how the hat would be sorting the students into different houses.
How was a hat going to do that? It was just a hat; wasn't it? Just then, the hat moved and recited a poem.
"Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
a smarter hat than me.
You can keep your blowers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true and unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands
(though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!"
McGonagall picked the hat up, and percited to call up the 1st student. Each student she called up, went one at a time, to the stage. After each student was placed, that table would clap.
When Draco was called up, the hat was barely placed over his head when the hat called out "SLYTHERIN!" It soon became your turn, and you walked up, and sat down.
"HUFFLEPUFF!" The sorting hat yelled. You sat down at the Hufflepuff table.
You looked over to the Slytherin table, and saw Draco with his friends. You were glad you were free from him. He was so rude, and you didn't like his friends either. They were all placed in Slytherin with Draco.
"Hi," A voice said from beside you. You jumped, but looked to see who was talking.
"I didn't mean to startle you," a brown haird girl said. "My name's Samantha Aneal, but you can call me Sam." She said. You smiled, and introduced yourself. She seemed so energetic.
"Are you excited to be here? I am! I wasn't sure about this place at first. That is, when I first heard about it, but I think the school itself is amazing. It's so big!" Sam raddled on. You didn't even get a chance to answer the qustion she asked you. Which was, 'not realy.'
Sam kept rambling on, while you drifted off into your own thoughts. You weren't enthused about being at Hogwarts; although, you had finally admitted to yourself that this was real.
Being at a different table than that Malfoy boy was a good thing. It was bad enough that you would have to deal with him when you went home. You were happy to not be in Slytherin with him and his snobbish friends.
You were snapped back to reality, when Dumbledore stood to inform everyone that Duiling in halls would get you detention, the forest was forbidden, and the third floor corridor was off limits. This of course made you wonder why. When you were told that something was forbidden, it drew you to it. That's why were drawn to the Malfoy manner in the first place; all because you were told to stay away. What was hidding in the forest and the third floor corridor?
Dumbledore stopped talking and waved his hand. Food appeared on the table from out of now where.
Ghosts started flying around the great hall. 'Ok, so ghosts excite too.' You thought. They were talking to the students, who seemed to be ok with this.
"Our house ghost is The Fat Frier." The girl across from you said. She was a blond girl. "I'm a third year here," she went on. "Names Kathrine Rosier. My friends call me Kathy"
"Hi, I'm not used to all of this." You told her.
"I call tell." Kathy smiled. "Are you a muggle born?" She asked taking a bite of food. You nodded slightly.
"Me too!" Sam exclaimed.
"Well, if you have any questions, feel free at ask. Any of us here in Hufflepuff will be willing to help out." She said to the both of you.
