After dinner was over, all the first years fallowed their prefects to their houses. The Gryffindors went up stares, along with the Ravenclaws. 'Their common rooms must be up in the towers.' You thought, watching them climb.
The Sytherins went down stairs with the Hufflepuffs. While you walked, you and your new first year friend, Sam, were in the back of the line.
That Malfoy boy caught up to you again. You ignored him, wishing he would leave you alone.
"(y/n), please don't be mad at me." Darco said. You didn't acknowledge he was there.
"(y/n)," he said grabbing your arm. The two of you stoped walking.
"Leave me along, Malfoy." You pulled your arm away and walked off.
Your group split from the Slytherins when the Hufflepuffs truned down a corridor. Draco waved to you as they walked down further into the dungeons. You looked away still mad at him.
"Who was that?" Sam asked.
"My next door neighbor." You sighed. Did you realy want people to know that? He was still strange as ever.
You walked down a long stair case down to where the kitchens were. In the hall, you could see, what looked like elfs, walking in and out of the kitchen entrance.
The Hufflepuff group stopped in front of a shadowy place. There were barrels that lined the wall. The perfect you had followed, told the first years that if they taped the wrong pattern, or taped the wrong barrel, they would be drenched in vinger.
He then showed you all the pattern of Helga Hufflepuff. You watched the lid to one of the barrels lifted, and all the students filled in. You walked up an earth like slope, untill it opend up to a low ceiling room.
The students looked around, amazed at the gorgeous room. The area was a large cylinder shape, with one large, light honey color, wall that wrapped around. Round windows lined the top of the wall, with planted pots in a few of them. The floor was a dark brown hardwood. It looked just like you would have imagined a hobbits house looked like.
"This place is awesome," Sam said, spinning.
"Yeah, it is." You replied in a whisper, looking around.
The room had a fireplace, which made it worm and cozy. In front of the fire, was a couch and a coffee table. There were chairs and tables all around with students strode about them. Potted plants were all over the place making it look more like the outside than a common room.
"It looks like a hobbits house." You whispered to yourself, with a smile.
You had read 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Ring' books, and loved them. You always thought it would be cool to go into a hobbit house. Now was your chance to not only go in, but stay in one. Well, it wasn't a real hobbit house, but it was close enough.
You saw Kathy talking to a group of other girls, sitting on a couch along the back wall. They seemed to have been in a deep conversation.
Your dorm room was just as beautiful. You had to go threw a round door to get there, and the floors and walls matched the commin room. The beds were soft and fluffy. The bed posts were made of old tree trunks. You climbed into the bad that was assigned to you. It felt as if you were floating on a cloud. You slipped under the covers.
As you layed in bed thinking about the events of the day, (n/n) drifted into your thoughts. You had to leave him home because the school didn't allow nifflers as pets. Poor (n/n) didn't want you to go. Your parents said they would look after him while you were at school; however, you missed the little guy all the same. You may not have had him for long;however, you loved your baby so much. Ok, so (n/n) wasn't so much a baby anymore, but he would always be your baby.
Out of no where, Draco Malfoy popped into the brain. What on earth was he doing there? You tried to get him out by thinking about (n/n) agian, but to no avail. But it had been Draco that told you what (n/n) was. It was him that took that book from his father's libary to help you learn everything you needed to know about the baby niffler. Knowling he would get into loads of trouble with his father if Mr. Malfoy found out he was helping you, he did it anyways. Although, you still weren't sure why he would help a mudblood when he obviously didnt like non-purebloods. Draco was also there when you named the (n/n). Plus he was kind of cute.
You tried to think about something else, anything else. You opend your eyes, and looked up at the ceiling. There wasnt anything up there, it looked just like the floor. The night was so quite, and your thoughts were going wild.
"WOW!" You were snapped out of your annoying thoughts by Sam, who had crawled into the bed next to you. "These bed are so perfect." She whispered sleepily, slipping into her bed. "Good night (y/n)." It wasn't long before she drifted off to sleep.
You smiled at her. She was so happy, and you were thankful for that. It made you feel comfortable knowing that someone could be as happy as she was; to be in a place they didn't even know. She had also pulled you out of the thoughts that invaded you mind. Maybe now you could fall asleep. You closed your eyes again, and before you knew it, it was morning.
The next morning, you woke up to the smell of fresh baked bread. It was still dark out when you went into the common room. Kathy was awake sitting in front of the fire place.
"Good morning," you said sitting down next to her.
"Morning," Kathy replied "You must be an early riser. There's not many of those in Hufflepuff."
"Yeah, I like to watch the sun rise. I guess we can't really do that down here though." You sighed sadly.
Kathy looked at you and had an evil grin. "Come with me." She said, standing up.
"Where are we going?" You followed her out of the common room. She brought you outside into the court yard. There were a lot of Ravenclaws out there too.
"Here you can see the sun rise. Most of the early birds come here to enjoy the moring. You can also see the sun rise from the libary when it gets to cold." Kathy said.
