You sat outside on the bench in the court yard, watching the sun slowing riseing over the horizon. The sun was so beautiful first thing in the morning. The birds started wakeing, and you could hear them singing off in the forest. Kathy had gone back inside, so you were left out there with a bunch of other students who you didn't know. You were enjoying the morning when you heard a fermiler voice.
"(y/n)?" Draco said, walking over. What did he want now? You pretended you didn't hear him.
"Can we talk?" He said, sitting down next to you. You rolled your eyes, but said nothing.
"Look, I'm sorry your mad at me. You can't stay mad at me forever." He said looking at you.
You looked back at him. "Yeah, in fact I can. You lied to your friends about me. You assume things you don't have a clue about. And you don't know how to LEAVE ME ALONE!" You yelled the last part while standing up. You walked off but then stopped. You truned back.
"Why do you keep talking to me?" You asked. Draco walked over to you. "I'm a mudblood, remember? You're a Malfoy who doesn't associate with people like me. So, what gives?" You quietly asked.
"I don't realy know why." He replied. "For some reason, you fascinate me." You rolled your eyes again.
"You're so weird." You told him before walking inside.
After breakfast, you started your first class of the day. You found your way to the greenhouses where your Herbology class was. The teacher, Professor Sprout, was the head of Hufflepuff house. She was short and stubby, but vary kind.
You noticed that your class was with a group and Slytherins. Draco was on the other side of the room. You looked at him for a second, before Prosser Sprout spoke up.
"Today, we will be leaning about a few simple plants." She started. Draco looked up and saw you. He looked at you while your teacher talked about the plants in the textbook. You tryed not looking at him back. He was staring and that made you uncomfortable.
"Now everyone, buddy up with a student from the other house." You heard Sprout say. You looked at Draco, expecting him to come right over. You didn't want to talk to him, let alone work with him. Draco looked away and walked over to Sam. You ended up with his friend Crabbe.
Crabbe was diffently a dim witted kid. How hard was it to identify the plants? They didn't even look like each other.
At lunch, you finally got the chance to talk to Sam.
"That Malfoy boy is so cute." Sam said, from across the table, in a hushed voice. You looked over her shoulder. Draco was talking to his friends at the Slytherin table.
"I know," you leaned in to reply. "But he doesn't like people like you and me."
"He called me a mudblood." She said sadly. Why did that make her sad? You looked confused. "It's a foul thing to call a muggle born." She said like you should have known.
"Oh!" You sat up, and gave Draco a dirty look before returning to your convention with Sam.
"Either way, he keeps trying to get you to talk to him." Sam exclaimed.
"I know, but I'm really mad at him." You told her what he did on the boat to the school.
You had spend the day trying to find your way to the rest of your classes. The other students kept stopping in the halls, or they would walk one way then trun back to get a look at Harry Potter. It was driving you nuts because they would get in your way.
Not once all day did Draco talk to you. He did keep looking at you though.
When classes were over and you had some free time, you found yourself outside under a tree. You were reading one of the text books in the courtyard. You looked away from your book when you heard Draco and his friends talking. They were only a few yards away. You went back to your book.
Days went by, and it was finally your first Saturday. Draco had left you alone all week. Your anger had dissipated over that time.
It was a beautiful day, the sun was still worm, while you sat in the grass under a tree in one of the side yards. You saw Draco at a table reading something. He seemed engaged by the book. Ok so, he had actually left you alone, even if you kept getting stared at by him. Maybe you weren't as mad at him as you thought. You walked over and sat down on the other side of the table. Draco didn't notice anyone had joined him. You sat there for a bit before pulling out a book of your own.
"Hi?" Draco finally saw you sitting there.
"Hi." You replied back, not looking up.
"I'm sorry I said you weren't Slytherin material." He said.
"No, you were right." You looked at him. "I'm nothing like any of the Slytherins. I'm sorry I got so mad over something so stupid."
"Does that mean your not mad anymore?" He asked excited. You nodded, and went back to your book. He smiled, and did the same.
Sometime went by. "I wonder why we aren't allowed in the third floor corridors." You said, interrupting Draco's book.
"Don't know." Draco mumbled. Did he even hear what you said?
"Hey, have you heard about your niffler? How's he doing?" Draco asked.
"He had a hard time at first, but my mom says he's getting along just fine. (n/n) likes to bring in things that don't belong to any of us though. Mom says, she doesn't know where he's getting the stuff." You told him.
"Well I got to go, I'll see you latter." You said getting up. He waved and you waved back. You walked into the castle to your common room. The day had been long, but you enjoyed the day sitting in mostly silence with Draco. Maybe he wasn't that srange.
