Tuesday rolled around and it was time for the first task. You sat in the bleachers with the other students. Sam was next to you but she still wasn't speaking with you. There was a dragon chained down in the filed below with a golden egg under it. The champions where to get the egg from the dragon. Cedric Diggory was the first one out. You watched as he was able to pass the dragon and get the egg. Fleur Delacour was out next. She managed to get her egg too. You weren't paying attention to close so you didn't actually see how they did it. You were to busy watching Draco, who was cheering on the other end of the stands. Victor Krum came out third and got his egg. The stands roard for him. Last was Harry Potter. He stood terrified then pulled out his wand.
"ACCIO Firebolt!" Potter called out. The next thing you saw was his broom zooming threw the air and right to Potter. He jumped on and took off. Potter rose then dived at the egg. The dragon moved its head and Potter pulled out of the dive just in time. A jet of fire came from the dragon. Potter dove again and missed the fire again, but got hit by the dragons tail. You looked at Draco. He was laughing. Potter strighted up and flew around like a bothering fly. He rose higher and higher. Moving up slowly. The dragon swatted at him, but he was too high up. The dragon breathed fire at him. Potter dodged it. The dragon stood and Potter dived to get the egg, now unprotected. He got the egg and took off out of the stands. When he returned the task was over. The crowds cheered. It was exciting, you had to admit. You didn't agree with the fact that dragons had to be used in such a way, but it was exciting.
On your way back inside you spotted Draco. He was talking to his friends and wasn't paying any attention to much more. You thought about going to the star room. At least you would be alone there. If Draco did come in, he wouldn't stay. You broke away from the crowd at went down. You walked into the room. It was freezing. You pulled the blanket from the back of the couch and wrapped up in it. You layed down on the couch and looked into the empty and dark fireplace. The walls still lit up like stars all around. You rolled over onto your back and looked around the dark room. Draco had enchanted the room back in your second year as an apology. You rolled back to face the fireplace. You're eyes filling with tears.
"Does he truly hate me so much?" You asked yourself. "This hurts to much. I thought he didn't want to spend another year fighting." You cryed until you fell asleep. You woke a few hours later to the wormth of the fire. You sat up and looked around but there was no one around.
"How did the fire get started?" You asked, as if someone would hear you. It haded been going for long. The logs were still fresh. You sat there for some time before the door opend. You looked to see who it was. Draco was walking back in with a heavy blanket.
"Draco." You said shocked and relieved. Had he started the fire because you were there? Or was it because he was there? He didn't say anything but draped the blanket around you before leaving again.
"Wait, Draco?" He didn't stop. You let out a sad sigh. "Please don't do this to me." You got up and chased after him.
"Draco! Please!" You yelled in a pleading voice. Draco kept walking away. You leaned against the wall and slid to the floor.
"Please." You whispered. "It hurts too much." You started crying again. What was he doing in the star room? Why did he start the fire and bring you a heavy blanket just to leave again? What was going on in his head?
The next few days went by. You tryed to talk to Draco and he was still acting colder then ever towards you. You layed in your bed crying one night.
"Why are you crying?" Sam asked you sympathetically. You sat up.
"You're talking to me again?" You asked, shocked.
"Why are you crying?" She repeated herself.
"Eveyone hates me." You said pulling you knees to your chest. Sam sat on her bed. "You and Sebastian hate me, and..."
"We don't hate you." Sam said stund. You looked at her.
"Well, you've been acting like it." You retorted.
"Yeah, we were mad at you." Sam said annoyed.
"For something I didn't have any control over. I was just saying the Potter couldn't have put his name in the goblet." You said back.
"See that's just it. You're on Potter's team! You should be on Cedric's. Your a Hufflepuff!" She yelled.
"I am on Cedric's side." You replied. Sam looked shocked and relieved.
"Oh." She said looking a bit embarrassed. "I just assumed."
"That's ok." You said, bearing your head into your knees.
"Then why are you still upset?" Sam asked concern mixed with confusion.
"Draco's..." you started.
"Is he still not talking to you?" Sam asked angrily. You nodded. "What is his problem?!"
"He's mad at me because I told him he was being mean again." You sobbed.
"What exactly happend between you two?" She asked, moving to your bed. She wrapped an arm around your shoulder as you told her about the fight.
"He says I patronize him too much." You sobbed and looked up at your friend. "I don't mean to, I just want people to see the Draco Malfoy I see. The Draco I fell in love with."
"So he's really mad then." Sam said getting up. You nodded and did the same. The two of you walked out of the dorm and down to the fireplace in the common room.
"I tryed talking to him a while ago but he was being a complete jerk." Sam said as you both sat down in the chairs.
"He can be that way when he's upset." You said.
"Why do you put up with him?" Sam asked. "I mean, I know why you do. It's because you love him, but why?"
"Well, you remember his actions at the Quidditch World Cup?" You asked.
"He was unusually kind to us, even to me." Sam said nodding. "He even got me those binoculars things."
"That's what he's like in the summer time, when he's away from others." You said. "I've seen his softer side, his kinder side." You looked into the fire. "He's not always a jerk. I just wish he could see himself the way I see him." Sam looked at you confused. "The kinder him. You know, the version of him I fell for." Sam smiled.
"You mean the one I saw over the summer." Sam said, finally understanding.
"Yes." You said excited that she was getting it. Your voice drifted off after that. "But he doesn't get it." You looked at Sam and told her how Draco didn't want to hear you tell him you love him.
"That's a bit cold." She said.
"He's not ready to hear it." You said sadly.
"Do you still love him?" Sam asked in a serous tone. You nodded looking sadder.
"The other night, I was in the star room pouting." You told her. "And when I woke up, the fire was going and Draco was walking back in with a heavy blanket. He didn't say anything, but he draped the blanket around me. Then he left." Your eyes drifted back into the fire. "It really hurts."
"That a strange action while he's mad at you." Sam said.
"That's what I thought." You closed your eyes. "I wish he would talk to me. But, at least, I still exsist." You said with a bit of hope in your voice. "I'm gonna head to bed. Night." You said sleepily and headed up to your dorm room.
