The Christmas vacation was over now and you were back at school. Classes resumed and it wasn't long before the first week back was over. It was Saturday morning. You walked into the Great Hall and saw Draco sitting at the Slytherin table. You walked over and sat down next to him. Perkinson glared at you like she always did.
"Hi (y/n)." Draco said. "How come your over here?"
"Sam's still sleeping and Sebastians outside with his other friends. So, I thought I would come bug you." You said, smiling. Over the week, you didn't get much time to talk to Draco.
"Is that so?" Draco said, playfully. "I guess I'll just have to put up with you then." He smiled back at you. You talked with Draco for a while before the rest of the hall filled up.
"Draco? When will you be able to tech me Occlumency?" You asked him as the noice in the hall grew louder.
"Right now if you'd like." Draco said standing up. "It's to noisy in here anyways."
"Ok," you said excitedly and fallowed Draco out of the Great Hall. The two of you made your way to the star room.
"Alright," Draco said, sitting in the arm chair. You sat down on the couch. "To start, I should explain exactly what Occlumency is."
"Ok." You said, listening intensively.
"Occlumency is a magical defense used to keep others from penetrating your mind and your feeling. To start, clear your mind of all thought. Now, I'm gonna try to enter your thoughts. Try to resist me." Draco said and pulled out his wand.
"Wait." You said. He put his wand down and looked at you, confused.
"What's wrong?" Draco asked. You didn't answer him for a minute. You were thinking. If Draco entered your thoughts and found out about the D.A., he would know about it. You had promised not to tell Draco, but if he was going to find out anyways, perhaps you should tell him. "(Y/n)? Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I just have something I don't want you to find out by seeing it in my head." You said, disappointed with yourself.
"What is it?" Draco sat next to you. You took a deep breath.
"If I tell you, you have to keep it to yourself. You can't tell anyone." You said very seriously.
"Ok." He replied with caution.
"You're not going to like this, but..." you took another deep breath and told him about the D.A.
"Please don't tell anyone." You begged him.
"Who's teaching this class?" Draco asked.
"Potter." You said timidly.
"So, you're allowing that git to teach you?" Draco asked sounding very angry.
"Are you mad at me?" You asked him, afraid of the answer.
"Just a little." He admitted. "Why would you want him to teach you anything?"
"Potter's good at teaching, and I've learned loads." You said defensively.
"Then have him teach you Occlumency." Draco said, standing up.
"Draco? Please?" You begged, standing too. "I want you to teach me Occlumency."
"No." He said coldly and left the room. He was upset with you alright. You sat back down in a slump. You didn't think he was going to take that news very well, but he didn't have to get so angry. The day went by, and sliped into the rest of the weekend. Draco wasn't happy with you and it showed. He advoided you as much as he could, but wasn't flat out ignoring you. Come Monday, he gave you a plan greeting in class.
"Why is Draco acting so cold towards you?" Sam asked, during charms.
"We got into a fight again." You told her. You couldn't tell her that he was keeping the D.A. secret. He wasn't supposed to know about the meetings. You expected someone in the D.A. to have heard that Draco knew something, but it seemed Draco had kept his word.
"Has he spoken to you at all in the last few days?" Sam asked. You shook your head as you watched Draco talking to his friends.
"He says hi and bye, but that's about it." You said.
"But didn't he promise to not do that to you?" Sam asked, angry at Draco.
"It's fine." You said and returned to your own spells. "We broke up long before the Christmas brake, so it's ok." You told Sam, feeling sad.
The week flew by with Draco still mad at you. You caught up to him in the courtyard on Saterday.
"Draco?" You tryed to get his attention, but he didn't respond. "You promised me, you wouldn't do this." You said coldly. Draco looked at you.
"I'm still mad at you." He said.
"I know, but..." you looked at the ground. "I needed to learn it all."
"I don't want to hear about it." Draco said and started walking off, when you grabbed his hand.
"Please, talk to me." You pleaded with him. "I need you to talk to me."
"Fine, what do you want me to say?" Draco asked coldly. You let go of his hand and it fell to his side.
"Do you still like me?" You asked him almost crying.
Draco's pov
Draco truned to fully face you; his eyes wide. Your words cut him deep. It felt like his heart had stoped beating for a moment.
"Of course I do. I love you." Draco said, amazed you had to ask him that. "How could you think I didn't?"
Your pov
"You've been avoiding me." You held back tears. Draco took your hand and pulled you back into the castle.
"I'm upset that you wanted Potter to teach you. Why didn't you come to me?" Draco asked.
"Because you don't know what he's teaching." You told him. "Do you know how to produce a patronus? He does, and he's gonna show us how." You gave Draco a few more examples and finally Draco nodded understandingly. "Please Draco, please don't think that I want Potter to teach me over you."
"Alright," Draco whispered. "I get it."
"So, will you teach me Occlumency then?" You asked him. He nodded.
"But not today." He said. You hugged him. The weekend soon ended. Half way threw the week you found yourself sitting in the star room with Draco. You were on another lesson of Occlumency. Draco was doing a good job teaching you too. He managed to get into your thoughts, and he did, indeed, see the D.A. meetings. You were able to push him out several time, before he sat down and said you were done for now. The two of you stayed in the room talking for a while.
"I got a reply from my mom this morning." You told Draco. "She says that it was true, what my dream said."
"That must have been when our memories were modified." Draco said. "Speaking of replies." You looked at him. "I wrote my father."
"What about?" You asked.
"I asked him to ask The Dark Lord why he wanted me to not date you but then tell me to protect you." He told you.
"And?" You waited for Draco to continue.
"Listen to this." Draco said and pulled out a piece of parchment from his pocket.
'I asked him for you. He said it was a good question and has decided to let you and (y/n) do as you wish. He said you would be able to protect her better if you free to be with her.'
"So, we can do as we please?" You asked. Draco looked up from the paper and nodded frantically. You couldn't help but smile. You wanted this so badly.
"So, the next Hogsmeade trip should be soon." Draco pointed out. "And I thought about asking you if you like to spend the day with me."
"Of course I will, Draco." You hugged him. "I'm so happy we can be together again."
