The Christmas brake ended, and you found yourself back on platform 9 3/4. Sam, Kathy and Sebation all met up with you. You got onto the train before the Malfoy family got there.
You sat in a compartment watching out the window, while your friends talked about their holiday. As you watched students get onto the train, you noticed Draco was being hugged by his mother like she would never see her son again. He somehow managed to pull away from her and fallow Parkinson, Grabbe, and Goyle onto the train. It wasn't long after that the Hogwarts Express left the station.
"(y/n), what's that?" Sam asked you, pointing at the niffler necklace around your neck. This, of course, drew the attention of the others. You pulled the necklace up so they could see it better.
"It was a gift from a friend," is all you would say. You didn't want to tell them that Draco gave it to you. They didn't know you were friends with him, and that's the way you liked it. Draco was the school bully after all. The three of them looked at each other. They seemed to all think it was one of them who gave it to you.
"Who?" They all asked at the same time. You just looked out the window and ignored the question. They didn't seem to drop it though.
"Will you please drop it?" You asked calmly. They kept it up. "I'm not gonna tell you, so please just drop it." You were getting sick of it and used a harsh tone, talking to them though the reflection in the window.
Time went by fairly fast, with the sky growing darker and darker the closer you got to the school. You wanted a chance to talk to Draco before you got back to Hogwarts. Standing, you said to your friends that you wanted to go for a walk before pulling into the Hogwarts station. You walked out of the cabin and down the path. Draco must have snuck away from his friends too because you found him sitting alone in one of the other cabins. You slid open the door and he looked up at you. He looked a bit upset.
"What's wrong?" You said, shutting the door behind you. You sat down across from him, but he didn't say anything. Draco looked down at his feet, then out the window.
"I'm glade I found you," you started. "I wanted to thank you for my necklace." He still sat there looking out the window. "I really like it." You continued, but he still didn't answer.
"Did you get the gift I asked Arrow to bring back to you?" Draco, still looking out the window, smiled and nodded slightly, but still said nothing. You could see that something was bothering him. The two of you sat in silence for a few minutes before you finally heard Draco's voice.
"I hung that painting in my room." Draco said before looked at you. "You were right. The scene that night, was beautiful." He turned a dark pink before looking back out the window to prevent himself from blushing. He didn't do a vary good job of it though. Maybe he didn't relize he was already pink. You pretended not to notice.
It all made sense now. Why he avoided you at school. Why he acted like he didn't know you. Why he acted as if he hated you. You distracted him, just by being in the same vicinity as him. You thought it was kind of funny. Did he develop a crush? That wasn't something you thought he could do. You looked at his reflection in the window. Yup, he was still pink. You didn't want him to know you knew. It would just make him trun reder.
The sun was almost asleep past the far off horizon. You were feeling a bit sleepy yourself. Draco had gone back to his normal color, but was obviously thinking about something other then what you were talking about.
"I can tell something is bothering you." you said, changing the subject. Draco looked over at you with sad eyes.
"Parkinson was teasing me about something, that's all" You wanted to ask him how it felt to have a taste of his own medicine, but decided agenst it. What could she have teased him about to upset him? You didn't ask him, but rather just nodded understandingly, and looked out the window with him.
You could see the school in the distance. The full moon lit the castle up like a gigantic night light.
"We're almost there." Draco said in an almost whisper. You agreed with him. You didn't really want to go back to join your friends. You would just catch up with them all later. Draco didn't move either.
"Aren't you gonna go find your friends?" He asked you, turning his head to look at your refleacion in the window.
"No, I don't really want to." You replied, talking to his reflection.
"Why not?" Draco's voice was kinder then he normally spoke.
"They're driving me nuts asking about this." You held up the niffler necklace, looking straight at him. He looked down at the charm then quickly out the window.
"What about you?" you asked. "Aren't you gonna go find your friends?"
"I'm not in the mood to deal with them right now." Draco said, shacking his head. A few seconds passed. "I would rather...." he started but then stoped.
"Whould reather?...." You copied him, waiting for him to finish his thought.
"Stay here........with you?" Draco whispered softly as if he was asking more than saying. It was hard to hear, but you did hear what he said. This, for some reason, made you blush. You both looked out with window saying nothing to one another.
You didn't have to wait long before the train stopped. You said bye to Draco and headed out to meet up with your other friends.
"What happened to you?" Sam asked, hooking her arm to yours.
"Got a little distracted." You told her. "I found a cabin I could see the castle in the distance... and eneded up staying there." You left out the part that Draco was there with you. She seem to believe you because she stoped asking about it. The students went back to the castle, ate dinner and went to their dorms. The train had pulled in late, like it had the first night.
