A week went by with no word from Draco, but you just figured he was busy. You and Kathy talked about her boyfriend Cedric a lot. You were sitting on her bed talking about him again, when you happened to look out the window to see Arrow flying towards Kathy's window. You jumped off her bed and opended the window. Arrow flew in carrying a box the size of a loaf of bread.
"That must be the gift Draco said he was going to send over." Kathy said, getting off the bed too. "What is it?"
"It's not my birthday yet. I can't open it." You exclaimed. You got a dirty look from both Kathy and Draco's owl. "Ok, ok. I'll open it." You sighed. You picked up the box, that Arrow had layed on the floor under the window. It was heavy. You carried it to the bed and opended the box. The first thing you saw was pruple fabric. Kathy watched you with an intense look. You pulled the cloth back.
"What is it?" Kathy asked again.
"I'm not sure." You looked puzzled. You pulled out a black stand and a crystal ball. "He sent me a crystal ball?" You asked looking at your friend. She looked just as puzzled.
"Did he send a letter to go with it?" She asked pulling the box close to her.
"I don't know." You said as she looked into the box.
"Here we go." She pulled out a peice of paper and read.
'Dear (y/n), this is not a regular crystal ball. Ok, it looks like one, but it's not one. You set it up like one but it doesn't work that way. I have one too. Go ahead and put the ball on the stand. Then put your hand on the ball and say 'show me,' then a persons name while thinking of that person. Anyone who has one of these, you can talk to. It will light up blue. If I were to call you, you would see my face in the ball. I thought this would be cool for the two of us to have so we can keep in touch without sending owls back and forth. Hope to hear from you soon. Love, Draco.'
You put the ball on the stand while Kathy read. You placed your hand on the ball and said, "Show me, Draco Malfoy." The ball light up green then blue.
"Hello (y/n)." Draco's voice came threw.
"This is so cool! Come see this Kathy." You said looking up at her.
"I can see." She said from the other side of the ball. You smiled at Draco threw the ball.
"This is so cool, Draco. Thanks." You said. You and Kathy talked with Draco for a while, before it was time to make dinner.
"I'm gonna go help my mom." Kathy said, walking out the door.
"Draco, this thing was so sweet. Will it work at Hogwarts?" You asked as the thought popped into your head.
"I don't know, but I don't see why it wouldn't. Why?" Draco obviously wasn't thinking what you were.
"If I have one in my room and you have one in your room, then we could talk to each other from our separate houses." You pointed out.
"We'll have to try it out." He said, as you heard Narcissa call for him.
"I think your mom wants you." You said. "You should go."
"I'll call you later, my Hufflepuff Princess." Draco said. "I miss you, you know."
"I know, I miss you too. How do I hang up?" You asked. He gave you a confused look. "How do we stop the ball?"
"Oh, just take the ball from the stand." He replied.
"Draco!" You heard his mom again.
"I got to go, I love you." Draco said then the ball went blank. Your heart skipped a beat again. He was good at making your heart do that. You took the ball to your room before joining everyone in the dining room.
Later that night, you were laying in bed staring at the ball. Out of no where, it lit up blue with Draco's face. The ball was on the table next to your bed so you reached out and tapped the ball, hoping that's how you answer. It must have been, because there he was.
"Draco." You whispered softly.
"I couldn't go to bed without talking to you again." Draco whispered back. He was laying on his bed too. Neither of you said anything from that point. You just staired at the other as you drifted off to sleep.
Draco's pov
You had fallen asleep, while Draco watched you drift off. He did miss you.
"I love you, (y/n)." Draco whispered to the sleeping you. He picked the ball up and set it back down. He rolled over to go to sleep. It didn't work though, because Perkinson walked in.
"What do you want?" Draco said, sitting up.
"I can't sleep." She said. Draco layed back down with a thud.
"So go bug someone else." He replied coldly.
"But they're all sleeping." Perkinson whined
"And I'm not trying too?" Draco said sarcastically.
Your pov
The next morning, you woke to the ball glowing blue again. You tapped the ball.
"Good morning sweet heart." You said sleepily. "You look like you were up all night."
"I was." Draco said, clearly cranky. "Perkinson bugged me all night."
"So go to bed now." You said sweetly, sitting up.
"I wish I could, I have to go with my father today." Draco yawned.
"I never answered your question about the world cup, did I?" You asked, laying down on your back. "I'm going with Kathy and her family. Sam and Sebastian are meeting us there. Not that you care about them."
"I care." Draco said shocked that you thought he didn't. You rolled over. "I care because they are your friends, and you care about them." You smiled.
"If I could kiss you threw this ball, you would have been kissed just know." You said softly. "I can't wait to see you again."
"Draco." You heard his father call him.
"I got to go, I'll talk to you later." Draco said before the ball went black again.
