A few week passed and now it was march. You woke on morning to find a sign on the common room bulletin board stating that the trip to Hogsmead was canceled. With what happened last trip with Katie Bell, it made sence.
"Well, that's disappointing." Sam said from behind you as you read the sign. "I was really looking forward to going out for a bit this weekend."
"I know what you mean." You replied, turning to face her. Getting out of the school for a few hours would have been nice.
The weather was still rainy, and the Appartition Lessons were still as horrible as it was on the first day, if not worse. A few more people had Splinched themselves and with Twycross and the three D's was driving the entirety of the 6th year students mad. A few nicknames had a raised for him which included Dogbreath and Dunghead. This Saturday was no different, although you did notice that Potter and Weasley had shown up.
"I've watched my father do this a million times! Why can't I just do it?!" Draco complained on your walk out of the Great Hall at the end of the lesson.
"You need to focus more." Zabini said to him. He was walking 9n Dracos other side. Draco shot him a dirty look and walked away from the group. "What's his problem?" Zabini asked you.
"How long have you known Draco?" You asked in response.
"Forever." Zabini said, a bit confused.
"Then you should know that Draco isn't the type of person who is used to practice. Things naturally come to him and this year..." You looked at Draco, who was now walking through the doors that led outside.
"Well this year, hasn't been easy for him." You looked back at Zabini. "Just give him some space." You said before chasing after Draco."You'll get it." You said when you caught up to Draco. He gave you a dirty look. "You're just stressed out with all you have to do." Draco's expression softened.
"I am under a lot of pressure." He said calmly. You slipped your hand into his. You walked hand in hand for a little bit before Draco stopped under a tree by the lake. "Why can't I be like the other students?" Draco asked, more to himself then to anyone else. He was watching the other students being normal students.
"Because you were born into a complex line." You said, sitting down on the ground under the tree, pulling on Draco's arm as you went down. Draco sat beside you. "If you're father was one of them, things wouldn't be like this."
"Yeah." Draco looked annoyed. "I have spent my entire life trying to get my father's approval..." You rested your head on his shoulder as Draco spoke. "...and look where he is." You nodded slightly in agreement. "Why does everyone want me to be like my father?" You sat up and looked at him.
"I don't want you to like your father. I love you just the way you are." You reminded him. Draco turned his focus from the lake to you and gave you a small smile. "You are MY Slytherin Prince! Nothing is going to change that, and I don't want you to EVER be like your father or anyone else. I want you to just be you." Draco looked back at the lake.
"You're the only one who feels that way." Draco mumbled. You kissed his cheek.
"Do you want to be like your father?" You asked him curiously. Draco snapped his head back to you with a look that said 'never'. "Well then, I am not the only one, now am I?" Draco chuckled a little. "Just be you, Draco. You don't need to be like anyone for anyone." Draco smiled again and bend down to kiss you.
Later that day, as you hung with Sam while Draco was working on the cabinet, you heard a few students talking about Ron Weasley being in the infirmary.
"Yeah, I saw him there earlier." A student said as you walked passed the group.
"I heard he was poisoned." Another said.
"Weasley was poisoned?" You looked at Sam. "I bet Ginny is worried about her brother. We should go check on her." You suggested and Sam agreed. Ginny was your friend after all. You found her in the court yard, sitting alone.
"From what Harry told us, Ron and him where in Slughorn's office drinking some mead. But before Harry and Slughorn drank any Ron dropped his glass and stood there foaming at the mouth." Ginny said when you asked how her brother was poisoned. "If it wasn't for Harry shoving a Bezoar down his throat, Ron would have died." Ginny wiped her tears away. "Who would want to hurt him?" She asked. You and Sam both hugged her. After a while she wanted to go back to see her brother. You understood and let her go.
"That would be hard." Sam said as you both watched your friend walk inside.
"It's heard to loose a brother." You said, remembering your brother who died when you were young. The two of you fallowed Ginny after a second and saw her walking down the corridor. You and Sam turned to corner and headed the other way to the Great Hall.
"Do you think Slughorn would do that to a student?" Sam asked.
"I don't see him doing that." You shook your head. "Besides, Potter's his favorite student." You replied. "I'm sure Dumbledore will figure it out."
That evening, you snuck out of the Hufflepuff common room while Sam and the rest of the school slept, to go sit in the star room. You always felt better there, where you could be alone with your thoughts, and with what happened to Weasley, you wanted to do just that. You wonderd who poisoned the mead and why? Who wanted to hurt Slughorn? You figured the poison was for Slughorn beings it was in his mead.
"...Because it's none of your business Pansie!" You heard Draco's voice as you creped down the corridor. You stopped and pulled yourself against the wall. If Perkinson saw you, she would definitely report you. If Draco caught you, it would be fine. He always just let you be.
"You disappear when you're supposed to be doing your rounds!" Pansie Perkinson yelled back. They weren't exactly being quite about it. You heard a door slam then silence.
"What are you two arguing about?" You heard Snape's cold voice ask.
"Nothing, Professor." Perkinson said. You peaked around thw corner. "It's nothing to worrie about sir." She continued.
"Then I suggest you get back to your rounds." Snape said and slipped back into his room.
"Yes, sir." Perkinson said then walked away. Draco spun on the spot and walked in thw opposite direction.
'He's probably not going to be in the star room tonight.' You thought to yourself and headed off to the star room.
