Sam left you and Draco sitting in the libary soon after Draco joined you. You guessed she wanted to let you and him work out your arguement. Draco had pulled a prank on the Weasleys and assumed it would upset you because he was being a jerk again. Draco was trying to get you to yell at him because you weren't yourself as of late. You didn't want to make Draco feel that you were patronizing him, in fear of him making you non-existent again.
You looked at your book, but you were thinking about how Draco was acting like a stupid git. You weren't acutely reading at all. Draco was still sitting next to you; however, you hadn't looked at him sence he sat down and pulled his book out. You lifted your head and looked at him. He was staring at you, his eyes full of sorrow.
Draco's pov
'I'm an idiot. She's not going to be happy with me, as long as I try to force her to do something that I want her to do, that she doesn't want to do.' Draco thought as you looked into his eyes. You sighed and returned to your book.
"I'm sorry." Draco said and looked down at his own book. 'She's mad alright.'
Your pov
"You're sorry?" You may have whispered, but your tone was harsh. "I'm not the one you hurt."
"Hey, Weasley and Potter hurt me. They're the ones that hit me for it." Draco retorted.
"And you got what you deserved. That's why I didn't say a word when I handed you back the 'Weasley is our king' badge."
"Oh. So, if they hadn't hit me...?" Draco said slowly, more to himself.
"Yes, Draco, I would have said something to you. It was a Jerkish move to create a song to throw off the Gryffindor Keeper." You said coldly. Draco smiled. "It's not funny!" You whispered harshly. You stood up and Draco grabbed your hand.
"Please, don't go." Draco said, and you sat back down.
"Fine, I won't leave, but you have to admit you're a git." You said, thinking he wasn't going to say it.
"I'm a git." Draco said. Your eyes widened for a just a split second.
"I didn't think you would actually say it." You said in amazement. Was he admitting it, or saying what you wanted to hear?
"Yeah, well..." Draco looked down at his book. "I am a git. I'm a complete moron." His voice was quite but you could tell he was being sincere.
"You're not a moron, Draco." You told him sympathetically.
"But I am. If I want you to be you, I need to let you be you." He said as he looked into your eyes. You smiled at him. You couldn't help it. He wasn't stupid in the least, but if he felt that way, he might have realized his mistake.
"What?" Draco asked you. You must have been lost in thought, because when he spoke, you blinked. "You're stairing at me with a smile on your face."
"I'm just glad you can own up to your faults." You hugged him and the two of you packed your stuff up and headed down to dinner.
The next morning you woke to find it was snowing. You stood by the window in the corridor near the libary. The lake was frozen sold and students were out skating on it; others were sledding and having snow ball fights. You were watching them all, when you felt a hand slip into yours. You looked over to see Draco.
"Do you want to join them out there?" Draco asked you. You smiled at him and nodded. Before you knew it you were outside playing in the snow. Most of the other students had gotten off the lake. There was only a few people skating now.
"Let's go on the ice." You suggested. Draco gave you a dirty look.
"Do you know how to skate?" He asked.
"Nope. But there's only one way to learn." You said cheerfully.
"I don't care to learn how." Draco replied and stood planted in his spot. You took his hand and pulled him the frozen lake. "(Y/n), I don't want to go onto the ice."
"Is Draco Malfoy afraid?" You asked him in a mocking tone.
"I'm not afraid. I just don't want to get on the ice." He said in defense.
"Suite yourself." You said and headed out onto the ice by yourself. You slid around as Draco watched you.
"Are you sure you don't want to join me? This is fun." You called out to Draco, as you slid back to him. He smiled sweetly but shook his head. You stepped off the frozen lake and took Draco's hand. You spent the whole day outside with Draco. As the sky faded from a brilliant light blue to oranges and reds, you layed down in the snow.
"What are you doing?" Draco asked, puzzled.
"Lay down a few feet from me." You told him. He gave you a 'you want me to what?' look. When you didn't say anything, he did as you said. You moved your arms and feet and made a snow angel.
"Just do what I'm doing." You said.
"What are we doing? I feel ridicules." Draco said as his arms and legs moved. When you got up, you helped Draco up.
"We made snow angels!" You said putting both arms above your head. Draco tilted his head.
"Why?" He seemed confused.
"Just to do it." You said and grabbed his hand. "We should go inside. We've been out here all day." Draco nodded and walked with you back inside.
"You do realize dinner is done, right? We also didn't get lunch. I'm starving." Draco complained.
"Well then, you're in luck." Draco looked at you confused. "I know where the kitchens are." You pulled Draco down past the Hufflepuff house and to the entrance to the kitchen. You went inside and was met with a few house elfs.
"How did you know where this was?" Draco asked looking around.
"I fallowed the smell of bread one morning." You answered Draco casually. "Hey Dobby." You said, as you walked up to him and Winky, another house elf . Winky was a little shorter then Dobby and was always crying. Her old master, Crouch, let her go, back during the world Quidditch match.
"Hi (y.../n)" Dobby started out excited but trailed off half way threw your name when he saw Draco. Draco was so distracted by the many house elfs he didn't notice Dobby. "Dobby does not want to see Draco Malfoy." He said in a hushed voice, and hid behind the counter.
"Oh, right. You served the Malfoy house." You said looking back at Draco. "Draco's not like he use to be." You stuck your hand out to Dobby. He took it and stepped out of hidding.
"Draco and I forgot to go eat dinner, or lunch for that matter, so we are kinda hungry." You told Dobby, who was eyeing Draco like he was a spider who was going to kill him. You called Draco over to you and Dobby.
"Dobby?" Draco said, finally noticing him. Dobby hid behind you. "What are you...? When did you...?"
"It doesn't matter. Could you please, tell Dobby you're not going to harm him?" You asked Draco.
"Dobby, I'm sorry for they way you were treated. I'm not going to hurt you. It's ok." Draco said, kneeling so he was at Dobby's height. Dobby came out of hidding and all was ok after that. You and Draco got some food, and Draco walked you back to the Hufflepuff entrance and said good night before heading off to the Slytherin house.
