The next morning, you found yourself at the Hufflepuff table for breakfast. Draco was sitting at the Slytherin table looking over at you.
"Are the two of you fighting again?" Sam asked from beside you.
"No, just haven't had the chance to talk to each other. He's the Slytherins fifth year prefect." You said to Sam as you gave Draco a small wave. He waved back and returned to his meal. Later in the day, you sat in History of Magic next to Draco.
"Hi," Draco said sitting down. "It's been a busy day."
"Yeah, but this is our last class today." You said taking his hand. You only had this class with Draco today. Tomorrow would be better. You had Charms and Care of Magical Creatures with him. "With you being a prefect, we don't get time together like we did before." Bin started talking. He always seem to bore the class to sleep.
"I'm glad this isn't the first class of the day." You whispered to Draco in a sigh. He gave you a questioning look. "I would have the hardest time keeping my eyes open." Draco smiled back at you. When class ended, Draco had pulled you to the side.
"Meet me in the star room tonight." Draco said. "I go on patrol with Pansy tonight and she'll be on the other end of the school."
"Ok, sounds good." Draco kissed you and headed off to do prefect stuff. You spend the evening with Sam and Sebastian until it was time to go to your common rooms. You and Sam were working on the homework you got, but Sam wasn't really into it.
"So, what do you think about Professor Umbridge?" Sam asked you.
"I don't know yet, we haven't had her class." You replied, looking up from your parchment. "But, from my first impression, she gives me the creeps." The two of you talked for a bit before you asked her to help you get past your new Hufflepuff prefect, Hanna Abbit. Sam and Hanna were friends so distracting her would be a sinch.
"Sure. You're gonna sneak off to meet up with Malfoy, aren't you?" Sam asked. You smiled and gave her a tiny nod. Sam walked over to Hanna and started talking to her. You saw your opportunity and slipped out the door.
"(Y/n)." Draco said hugging you once you stepped into the star room. "Being a prefect is a lot harder than I thought it would be." Draco said, sitting. You sat beside him.
"It wouldn't be as hard, if you would act like a prefect." Draco shot you a dirty glance. "I saw you push the yunger students out of your way, Draco." You said timidly.
"Are you ok?" Draco asked. "Your talking as if your afraid of something." Your eyes started to water.
"I'm fine." You forced yourself to say, but Draco obviously didn't believe it.
"You not fine, what's wrong." He said taking your hand in his. "What are you scard of?" Draco asked when you didn't say anything.
"I don't want you to do what you did last year." A tear formed a steam from your eye to your cheek. Draco looked confused. "I don't want to be nonexistent again. I couldn't take it." Draco pulled you into a hug. "I want you to be the best prefect you can be, but if you keep going the way are, and I remind you of that, then you'll get mad again."
"I really did do a number on you." Draco said, pulling back a little. "(Y/n), I'm so sorry I did that to you." He pulled you back into a tight hug. "I promise, I won't do that again."
"You're not good at keeping promises." You reminded him.
"Then I swear it." He looked into your eyes. "I swear, I will never make you nonexistent again." You gave him a tiny smile. A swear was really no different then a promise.
