One evening, while you spoke with Draco in the star room, during dinner time, you heard a scream. The both of you ran out of the room and down the corridor, when you heard the scream again. You spotted Potter and Snape running out of Snape's classroom and towards the scream as well. By the time you got to the entrance hall, the whole school seemed to have joined you. Standing in the middle of the hall was a woman who looked like she was literally falling apart. She had a wand in one hand and an empty bottle in the other. Her glasses were lopsided and her many shawls and scarfs were draped around her, almost falling off.
"That must be Professor Trelawney." You whispered to Draco. You didn't have her class and was only was only relying on what other students had told you.
"No! NO! This cannot be happening...it cannot...I refuse to accept it!" Trelawney sobbed.
"You didn't realize this was coming?" The voice of Umbridge rang over the crowd. The students, who were all looking scard or shocked, looked at Umbridge then back to Trelawney. "Incapable though you are of predicting even tomorrow's weather, you must surely have realized that your pitiful performance during my inspection, and lack of ant improvement, would make it inevitable you would be sacked?"
"You c-can't! You c-can't sack me! I've b-been here sixteen years! H-Hogwarts is my-my h-home!" Trelawney studdard threw tears.
"It was your home until an hour ago, when the Minister of Magic countersigned the order for your dismissal. Now kindly remove yourself from this Hall. You are embarrassing us." You gave Umbridge a dirty look, which she didn't seem to notice. You looked at Draco, who was looking pleased.
"Draco? Umbridge is being a jerk to Trelawney." You whispered.
"But if she can't do her job..." Draco started but you gave him a death glare and he shut up. Professor McGonagall had walked over to Trelawney while you spoke with Draco. She was now patting Trelawney on the back.
"There, there, Sibyll...calm down...blow your nose in this." McGonagall said, handing her a handkerchief. "It's not as bad as you think, now...you are not going to have to leave Hogwarts."
"Oh really, Professor McGonagall? And your authority for that statement is..." Umbridge said authoritatively.
"That would be mine!" You heard Dumbledore say from the door way. You looked over to see him standing at the entrance way with doors framing him. He walked towards Trelawney, leaving the doors wide open behind him.
"Yours, Professor Dumbledore?" Umbridge said almost in a laugh. "I'm afraid you do not understand the position. I have here an Order of Dismissal," She pulled a parchment scroll out from her robes as she spoke. "sighed by myself and the Minister of Magic. Under the terms of Educational Decree Number Twenty-three,the High Inquisitor of Hogwarts has the power to inspect, place upon probation, and sack any teacher she, that is to say I, feel is not performing up the the standards required by 5he Minister of Magic. I have decided the Professor Trelawney is not up to scratch. I have dismissed her."
"You are quite right, of course, Professor Umbridge. As High Inquisitor you have every right to dismiss my teachers. You do not, however, have the authority to send them away from the castle." Dumbledore said smiling. "I am afraid, that the power to do that still resides with the headmaster, and it is my wish that Professor Trelawney continue to live at Hogwarts." He said with a bow.
"No, no, I'll g-go, Dumbledore! I sh-shall l-leave Hogwarts and s-seek my fortune elsewhere," Trelawney sobbed.
"No, it is my wish that you remain, Sibyll." Umbridge glared at Dumbledore as he spoke to Professor Trelawney.
"Hum." Draco hummed in disapproval. You gave him a look that told him you didn't agree with him. "Dumbledore's to generous." He said, sounding annoyed. You pulled him away from the crowd.
"This school is being taken over by the tyrant, Umbridge, and you think that Dumbledore's too generous?" You said angrily then sighed. "Draco, I love you, but sometimes," you took a deep breath. "You are just plan cold."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Draco said, upset.
"Just what I said. You are cold sometimes. You don't consider how others feel." You tryed to explain. Draco looked shocked.
"I consider how they feel." He said, defensively.
"Really? Ok." You couldn't believe, that he thought, he understood how poor Professor Trelawney was feeling. "If it was me, in Trelawneys place, how would you have responded?" You asked seriously.
"That's not fair!" Draco said, "you know that I would try to stop her."
"And if it was you in Trelawneys place, how would you feel?" You continued in your serious tone.
"I....oh." Draco said, realizing how she must be feeling.
"Trelawney's a strange person, that true, but that doesn't give anyone the right to treat some like Umbridge is treating her. Trelawney is NOT a rat to be shooed away. She is a living, human, who loves this school. Umbridge is the monster." You said and walked away, leaving Draco standing in the corridor.
Classes went on like normal with Umbridge still in every Care of Magical Creatures class. She was bound and determined to find something to sack Hagrid over. Draco wasn't partially kind about it either. He found it quite amusing, which made you angry with him. The fifth years were under amazing amounts of stress with the O.W.L.s fast approaching. Hannah Abbott bursted out in tears saying she was too stupid to take the exam and wanted to leave the school while she was in Hurbology. Madam Pomfrey gave her a calming draught to help her with the stress levels she was experiencing.
You, Sam and Sebastian were spending most of your free time in library studying for your O.W.L.s, when Draco sat down beside you. You were so focused, you didn't realize he had joined you, until he pulled your book closer to him.
"What are you reading?" He asked. You rolled your eyes.
"We are studying for our exams." Sebastian said, annoyed.
"It's alright guys. You keep studying, I'll be back." You said to Sam and Sebastian. You got up and took Draco's hand, and lead him into the corridor.
"Sam and Sebastian are upset with you." You said. "They think your bad news, because of your father being aligned with him."
"That's not fair." Draco was shocked. He had tryed to talk to Sam, but she wouldn't let him speak to her.
"I know, and I tryed to tell them that. Just stay away from them for a while, ok." You kissed Draco. "Let me go get my stuff, and we can study together in the star room." Draco nodded and you went back into the library.
"I'm gonna study with Draco." You told your friends.
"Why are you still with him?" Sam asked you. She was still mad at you for being with him, knowing his father was a Death Eater. She wasn't really that angry with you anymore, but she didn't like you being with Draco.
"Because, Sam, she's in love with him." Sebastian teased you.
"Don't you start it too." Sam spat.
"Please don't fight." You piped in. "I do love Draco." You said, looking at Sebastian. "And, he's not his father!" You said, looking at Sam, with more oomph than you ment to. You truned around and left the library in a huff.
"Let's go." You said, and took Draco's hand.
