You left the Slytherin table and sat with the rest of the Hufflepuffs. Imagining Umbridge inspecting McGonagall was a funny thought. McGonagall wasn't going to have that. You couldn't help but smile, while an image of Umbridge inspecting McGonagall, popped into your mind.
The day went by without much of a problem. Umbridge wasn't in any of your classes, but Draco, later that evening, had told you how she showed up is a few of his classes and questioned her fellow teachers. At dinner, you noticed (n/n) at Draco's feet.
'That's were he's been.' You thought, as you watched Draco hand him dinner roll. You smiled at them as (n/n) nibbled on the bread. At least your pet niffler was happy with Draco. You hadn't seen much of the little guy sence you got back to the school.
The next morning, you sat in Defense Against the Dark Arts and was told to start reading page 19. Again, the chapter was so boring that you had a hard time focusing. You could have done this as homework. Your hand shot into the air, like it had last time.
"Yes," Umbridge whispered in her high pitched voice. It was so sweet sounding, it made you stumic trun.
"We can read on our own time, we want to do some practical stuff." You told her. The class seemed to agree. They were all nodding their heads.
"We are not going to preform spells in this class, miss (l/n)." Umbridge replied in a forced sweetness. "You will not be attack in class."
"You're not actually teaching us anything! We might as well be teaching ourselves!" You said in a huff.
"Detention, miss (l/n)." She retorted. You gave her a death glare. "My office at 5 O'clock next Monday evening."
"For what! Pointing out that you're not doing your job, we are?" You said loudly, still glaring at her. She was definitely the worst teacher you had ever met.
"For interrupting my class room." Umbridge replied in a soft tone.
The next day you had Care of Magical Creatures. You met up with Draco and was walking down together when you spotted Umbridge. You glared at her. You hadn't forgotten about yesterday.
"You don't usely teach this class, is that right?" Umbridge asked Grumblyplank, with a clipboard in her hand.
"Quite correct. I am a substitute teacher, standing in for Professor Hagrid." She answered Umbridge, her arms behind her back and swaying back and forth on her feet. Draco truned to Crabbe and Goyle, and started whispering. Umbridge continued to ask Grumblyplank about Hagrid and his leave of absence. You looked up, and to your amazement, so did Draco. But, all Grumblyplank said was she knew just as much as Umbridge did.
The class started, and while the students worked, Umbridge walked around asking questions. When she reached Draco's group, she said to Goyle, "Now, I've heard there have been injuries in this class." You looked up from your assignment and listened closely.
"That was me." Draco piped up. "I was slashed by a hippogriff."
"A hippogriff?" Umbridge asked, scribbling on her clipboard. You went to say something when Potter did it for you.
"Only because he's too stupid to listen to what Hagrid told him to do." Potter said, upset. Umbridge slowly looked at Potter. You noticed a red mark on his hand. It looked like a faded scar, but you hadn't noticed it before.
"Another nights detention, I think." She said to him, then strode off to the castle. You glared at Draco before returning to your work.
The week went by fast and it was now Monday evening. You made your way down to Umbridge's office for your detention. You knocked on the door and was told to enter; you did.
"You will be doing lines." Umbridge said. You bent down to get your quill and she stopped you. "Not with your quill. You will do them with a special one of mine, and you won't need ink." Umbridge handed you a thin black quill. "You will be writing, 'I must not interrupt class.' Please start." You sat down and started. With each phrase you wrote on the paper, it cut into your hand. It was painful. The words on the back of your hand would heal shortly after they were carved in, only leaving a red mark. It kind of looked like the mark on Potter's hand. The one you saw the other day. Was she doing the same thing to him? The night was long. It wasn't until after midnight that Umbridge let you go.
You were headed back to the Hufflepuff common room when you tuned the corner and spotted Draco. He was walking away from where you stood. You walked up to him. He seemed to be in deep thought, because he didn't notice you until you slipped your uncut hand into his. Draco jumped.
"What are you doing out of bed?" Draco asked you, looking shocked.
"I was in detention with Umbridge." You told him. "She's horrible."
"What did you do to get a detention?" He stopped walking. "You never do anything to get you into trouble."
"I told her that we could teach ourselves from the text books." You said causally and pulled his hand so he would walk again. "Can you walk me back to the common room?" You asked him. Draco nodded and you walked together. You didn't want to show him your hand. It would just have angered him, and knowing Draco, he would do something that would land him in the same position. You could imagine how he would say 'My father will hear about this.' and things would only get worse for him.
"Why is Umbridge horrible?" Draco asked you, after a bit of silent walking.
"We are teaching ourselves, Draco." You said annoyed. Was he so daft that he didn't know this already? "We can read the text book at home. You know, where we aren't allowed to practice magic." Draco nodded understandingly. Once you made it to the common room, you said your good nights.
"I'll see you in class tomorrow," Draco said giving you a good night kiss. You headed up to bed thinking how horrible Umbridge was.
