Later that night, you tried to sleep but just couldn't. You laid in bed for a while before giving up. You found your down to the Star Room hoping you could get some sleep there. Sometimes it was more comfortable. But as you laid on the couch, looking at the ceiling, you decided that it wasn't going to work and thought you would go tinker away on the cabinet. What harm could it do? It didn't work anyways. So, you snuck up to the seventh floor.
As you entered the Room of Requirement, you thought it was odd that you didn't run into anyone on the way; not even Mrs. Norris, Flitch the care taker's cat. Although you did hear someone yelling, "Come back! All right, I lied! I was annoyed you woke me up! The password's still 'tapeworm'!" Shrugging it off, you made your way to cabinet.
As you turned the corner of a tall pile of old books, you noticed Draco. He was on the floor sleeping on his side, using his Slytherin robes as a blanket and some of the old books as pillows. You smiled and sat down beside him. His completion was getting paler by the day. The stress of the cabinet was doing it's damage. You curled up on the floor next to him and felt Dracos arm pulling you into him. You smiled and finally fell asleep.
The next morning you woke to find a Slytherin cloak draped over you but no Draco. You got up and went to the Hufflepuff common room to change into your day cloths and went to your classes.
Later at lunch, you heard some of the Gryffindors talking about how Katie Bell was back as you walked by their table. 'That's good, she was alright.' You thought as you sat down next Sabastien and across from Sam at the Hufflepuff table as Draco wasn't at lunch. He was most likely in the Room of Requirement again.
"Why aren't you sitting with Malfoy?" Sam asked coldly.
"Why do you hate Draco this time?" You asked her in the same cold manner.
"He is not a good influence." Sam answered.
"You seem fine with him one minute then you hate him again the next. What did Draco do this time?" You said, keeping full eye contact with her. Sam stared back but didn't give you an answer.
"Malfoy isn't as bad as you think." Sabastien piped in. You and Sam both looked at him, shocked. "What? He's not." Sabastien said looking back and forth between the two of you. He landed on Sam. "I heard him tell his fellow Slytherin, this morning in the corridor by the library, to stop talking bad about muggle-borns." Sam didn't respond with words but she did pick up her plate and leave the table.
"Did he really do that?" You asked Sabastien.
"Yeah. It was that kid who called me a blood trader yesterday at dinner." Sabastien said and took a bite of food. "Malfoy told him he was just being stupid and that he needed to stop."
"Wow." You said a little shocked and a little proud of your boyfriend.
"The kid told him, he was the one being stupid. And get this. Malfoy shook his head and walked off." Sabastien went on. "I don't know if that's because he's grown up since he acted that way or if it's because he's sick. He has been pale these days." Sabastien said the last sentence quitely, as if talking to himself.
"Thanks for telling me this." You said, hugging your friend. "I'm gonna go find him." You got up and headed back to the Room of Requirement.
"I'm so glad you're here." You said happily, hugging Draco from behind.
"Oh, hey (y/n)." Draco said in a tired voice. You told him what Sabastien said he heard.
"And I can't be more proud of you." You finished, still hugging him.
"Yeah, I was just to tired to deal with Prewett." Draco admitted sleeply. "I don't have the energy to put up with him." He threq a bottle at the cabnit. It shattered with a faul smell. It looked like some kind of acid. Then he pointed his wand at the cabinet again and said a spell. Nothing happened.
"Draco?" You said timidly, and letting go of him "I have to admit something." He turned to face you. "I'm scared. What if we don't get this thing working?"
"That's what I've been saying all this time." He sounded annoyed, his temper rising "You keep telling me I'm smart and I'll figure it out but...." He looked back at the cabinet. "I've tried everything and I don't know how fix it." His tone turned to anger.
"What if you can't kill Dumbledore?" You asked, scared he was going to yell again.
"You don't think I can?!" Draco spun around defensively.
"To he honest? I don't think you will." Draco glared at you. "It's not that you can't do it. I think you're too kind to murder someone, that's all." You replied to his silence. "Murder changes a person, Draco. And I don't see you killing someone just to peese someone else."
"I will do it!" Draco spat and turned back to the cabinet. "Now go away and let me concentrat on this."
"Draco, I'm going to lose you and I don't want that!" You're eyes stared to water. "If you go threw with it, you won't be you anymore. And if Dumbledore lives then He will kill you." Draco glared at you.
"I'm not so weak that I can't do it!" Draco spat.
"That's not what I'm saying! I know you're not weak, Draco. I know you can kill him." You're voice sounded like your were about to cry. "I don't want you to be killed but I also don't want this! Killing someone WILL change you, Draco!" Tears started falling from your eyes. "and I'm going lose you." You said softly. Draco didn't respond. "Draco, I love you but I'm going to lose you either way." Draco pointed at the exit. Sighing with fear and disappointment, you left the room without another word and feeling a bit lost.
