Miracles Season 2: New Beginnings (Dawsey)

Chapter 177

Gabby's POV

We spent the past 3 hours just laughing and having fun with our friends. And in the end, Matt was glad that I invited Jay and Erin to come over because they gave us an update on my father's case. He was now in jail awaiting trial and they said we didn't need to testify because they had enough evidence. Mostly, Antonio was the one who was relaying this information to us but now, I am so glad I heard it first hand from the detectives working this case. 

While everybody was still there, me and Matt were standing in the kitchen. I was drinking some sparkling water and he was drinking some wine. So, I decided to make a toast. I got everybody's attention by making the noise with my glass and everybody turned to look at me. "Okay, so I get this is kinda our housewarming party and so....I just wanted to say on me and Matt's behalf, thank you all for coming to the party or helping us move in."

Matt smiled, agreeing with me before kissing my forehead. "To say that the past month has been hard on us is an understatement. However, I have learned to look on the bright side. As I look around the room. I see all of our friends and family here, having helped us move into our home. A home that me and Matt plan on making memories in with Matteo. And honestly, I don't think I could want a better first memory."

I smiled as I continued to look at our friends. "The first memory I am always going to remember is how you guys all helped us in the worst of it. And I want to say thanks to all of you. To Chief who gave us the time we needed to be with Matteo and find a new place, to Antonio for letting us live with you and supporting us through this situation with dad, and to our great friends who helped us move in.

But most importantly, I want to thank you Matt for helping me through this rough time and giving me a second chance. I feel like stuff happens for a reason. Here, in this house we have no baggage and we are starting fresh just like how are starting fresh in our second marriage. I love you and can't wait to see what lies ahead for us in the next few years. I love you all and thank you so much for all your help today. So, a toast to new beginnings."

Everybody lifted their glasses and smiled as we toasted. Turning my head to look at Matt, I smiled at him before rubbing his back. "To new beginnings." Matt smiled and nodded at me before bending down to kiss me softly. "To new beginnings." I smiled as I laid my head down on his shoulder, happy to be in his arms once again as we celebrated our new beginning in this new home. I was glad to be there with him and honestly, I was ready to just relax tonight.
