Miracles Season 2: New Beginnings (Dawsey)

Chapter 216

Matt's POV

Once me and Gabby finished breakfast, I decided to quickly do the dishes and put them away before we left because I didn't want to leave any dirty dishes in the sink. Once I finished them, I turned to look at Gabby as she got Matteo into his seat. I smiled at the sight of my wife putting our miracle of a son in his car seat when I heard my phone ring. It was Chief Boden.

I moved to answer it, nervous. "Boden, how are you?" Gabby turned to look at me and then gave me a glare. "You are not going in!" I nodded, not planning on it. "Sorry Chief, I get you are down and I said I could come in but....I am actually leaving town in a few minutes." Chief then remembered that we are going on vacation. "Where are you going?" I smiled. "Miami. We will be gone until the New Year."

Boden then spoke up. "Right, of course. I am sorry for disturbing. This trip to reduce Gabby's stress levels and make her healthy?" I nodded and then spoke up. "Yes, so we aren't going to be here to help. However, I am coming back to work once we are back in town for a few days. Gabby will as well if there is an opening on Ambo." 

I smiled when he said there was. "That's perfect. Want me to ask Gabby if she wants the spot?" Gabby looked up at me and nodded yes. "Will I be Paramedic-in-Chief again?" I then went to ask Boden that. "Gabby wants to know if she will be PIC again if she rejoins?" Unfortunately, that was not the case. "Brett will stay on as PIC because she has more years of service now."

I then shook my head but, Gabby didn't seem to care. "I don't care Matt, I just want to be there again....with you at Firehouse 51." I smiled when she said that before speaking to Boden. "On behalf of Gabby, who just approved...I will accept the Ambo position for her. Can we be on the same shift though? Just easier." Boden agreed and then spoke up. "Have a safe trip and have fun. Stay out of the hospital." I chuckled and nodded. "Bye chief."

Gabby then looked at me as I hung up. "What did he say at the end to make you laugh?" I looked at her and smiled. "He said to stay out of the hospital." Gabby nodded before turning her attention to Antonio when he walked back in. "You guys ready to go?" We both nodded and smiled as I walked over to grab our bags. We then grabbed each other's hands and followed each other out to the van so that we could make our way to Miami.

NOTE: I am not going to be writing about the flight. I am just going to skip right to when Matt and Gabby land at Miami International Airport.
