Chapter 186

Matt's POV

After driving to the house, I smiled as I helped Gabby out of my truck so that she could grab Matteo. "I'll get the stroller. I haven't told anybody we are here yet." She nodded and smiled before going to get Matteo out of the car while I grabbed the stroller. Running back over to my side of the truck, I moved to grab the stroller and opened it so we could set Matteo in.

After it was open and ready for Matteo, I pushed it over to Gabby's side of the truck again and then moved it into position so that she could put Matteo in the stroller. I then moved to grab the baby bag from the back and put it over the handlebar, smiling at our baby boy. "Someone looks ready to finally see where mommy and daddy met." I moved to rub his cheek, him being awake.

Gabby smiled at me as she closed to door to our truck before moving to grab my hand. I was the one that mostly pushed Matteo's stroller because she liked to hold my hand. I intertwined our fingers as we walked down the sidewalk before looking at her. "You want to stop by Ottis' memorial before we head inside or do you just want to head inside?"

Gabby thought about it as she rubbed my arm and sighed. "Maybe on our way back. I want this guy to be awake for a bit for everybody. People are going to want to see him awake." I smiled and nodded before kissing her forehead. We then proceeded to walk up the firehouse driveway. "You know, this is the first time we are here since we became parents and got married again."

We both smiled at that idea, loving the fact that we are now back where we should've been years ago. Married, in love and we have a family. This is a bittersweet moment for us but, we are happy to be feeling it because it is amazing. Now for the hard part, keeping Matteo asleep as we walk into the building...knowing our friends are probably going to be excited we are here.
