Matt's POV
After taking a nice shower with Gabby, I made my way out to the bedroom behind her in my boxers. I decided to put some gym shorts and a t-shirt on since it was still early and didn't know what type of calls I was going to get but...I knew I was going to get some calls. But, before the media calls started....I made sure to call Severide back. Grabbing my iPad from my bag, I moved to sit on our bed to call him and the firehouse.
He answered right away. "Hey, hey, there's the Miami Beach firefighter." I chuckled and smiled at him. "Please tell me that I didn't embarrass myself on National TV." He shook his head and smiled. "Dude, you're a hero. I mean sure, it's your job but...you're on vacation." I smiled and nodded when he said that. "You at the firehouse right now?"
He nodded before giving me to Chief Boden. "Matt, that was a hell of a save. How did Gabby react when she saw you start running?" I was about to answer when I saw Gabby come out of the washroom. "How about you ask her yourself?" Gabby looked at me and asked, "Antonio?" I shook my head. "Firehouse." She nodded while walking over to our bed. She then joined me and smiled as we looked at our friends.
"Hey guys and, I think I heard the question. Honestly....we both responded to the call just to be clear. I helped too as a paramedic. He is going to tell people that when he gets on the interview." I took a mental note of that because I knew that if I didn't she would be mad. "Other than that, it was a great first day in Miami. Maybe tomorrow we can actually relax and not work."
Boden then tried to make a joke..."Just make sure that the Miami Fire Department doesn't try and poach you guys from me." We both looked at each other and shook our heads. "No way Boden, Chicago is our home. We will be back in the new year. Listen, we have to cut this short though. Matt's phone is ringing and I think it's a major news broadcast." Matt nodded as he went to grab it and then gave me the iPad. "Hi, this is Matthew Casey speaking."
I smiled at our friends. "See you on the news. Talk later." I then hung up and decided to call for room service since I knew Matt would be busy for a while.
