This Just Another 18 Month Marriage?

Gabby's POV

As I stood on the balcony off the room, I couldn't help but get scared when Matt said that most of his relationships lasted only 18 months. And unfortunately, the only exception to that rule was his relationship with his late fiancé, Hallie Thomas. Unless of course he rushed his engagement with her too? We never got that deep into the details. Still, I am scared.

That's when I felt Matt walk up behind me. He moved his hands to my legs and sighed. "Gabby, talk to me. Turn around and look at me. Let's talk about this. That's what we promised each other right? To talk about stuff we are worried about." I nodded before turning to look at him and sighed. "Matt, is this going to be another one of your 18 month relationships?"

He just stared at me and shook his head. "Gabby, no....of course not. Come here." I moved to hug him, wrapping my arms around his neck while he grabbed my back. I then listened to him talk again. "I already lost you once and just recently, I almost lost you permanently because of the risks you too go give me Matteo. Gabby, I promised you that this time would be different."

I sighed and nodded as I laid my head down on his shoulder. "Just curious, how long were you with Hallie?" He leaned back and looked at me. "I was with her for a couple years." Great, that was not the answer I wanted. "Great, so your first engagement ended after you were together for years. I know she died but, just hear me out. Our entire relationship, from dating to married the first time around never made it past 18 months. What's different this time?"

Matt just stared at me and then grabbed my hands, intertwining our fingers. "What's different this time is the fact that I already learned what it was like living life without you as my wife. And trust me when I say this, it was not good. So...I am going to try my absolute best to never have to feel that again. Gabby, we are forever. I promise." I nodded before going to hug him again.

He moved to kiss my head before moving to pick me up in his arms. He cradled me and smiled as he leaned his forehead against mine. "Listen, let's just go to bed and relax. I love you Gabby and I promise, we are not leaving each other again. Let's go hold each other close and just concentrate on each other now. I'll get you undressed and we can get close."

I nodded and smiled as I moved to kiss him softly. He then started to carry me into the bedroom once again, kissing me slowly as he carried me back to bed to show me this was truly forever.
