Randy Davis' POV
As I ran over to the child trying to help, I saw another gentleman rush over to help. I was not happy when I saw that and made it clear I wanted him to move as soon as I got there. "Move sir, let the professionals in." He then turned to look at me and put his hand out. "Captain Matthew Casey, Chicago Fire Department."
I looked at him and nodded. "Okay then, you can help. What happened since you obviously were here first." He looked around. "I think he drove onto the beach with the hopes of making it to the ocean. He then ran into this group and now, we are here with this boy stuck underneath. I dealt with a situation like this in Chicago."
I looked at him and sighed. "Well, this isn't Chicago. The beach in Miami is different. You can help but I am in command. How about you check his head for wounds?" Matt nodded before going to follow the instructions that Gabby taught him. Meanwhile, I went to talk to my firemen to see if we can get the car off without having to get the boy out.
However, my Lieutenant was not happy that there was another guy there. "Chief, why are we letting a civilian help us?" I stopped him from moving forward. "That is Captain Matthew Casey from the Chicago Fire Department. He knows that he is doing. Now guys, we can always use more help. So...get the jaws of life and get this car off this boy. More hands the better."
"Yes chief." I smiled while walking back over to Matt, grabbing my jacket before giving it to him. "Here, let's cover you up so that you don't have scratches all over you when you stay at the beach later." Matt just nodded at me before looking at the boy. "His name is Carson. You are going to want to get your Ambo here stat. I can feel a big hole in his head. If you walk over to the woman with the baby, she can help me too. She's a paramedic and my wife."
I just nodded at him. "I'll go get her. I will get one of my men to help with your baby." Matt nodded at me before I left to go get his wife so that she can help us.
