Gabby's POV

As I saw Laura come into the ER, I went to hug her. I knew that, no matter what happened between her and Antonio, they still loved each other. I can say that thanks to my experience with Matt. Being married changes the relationship between you and your significant other in ways that just dating doesn't. Trust and communication come much more naturally.

"How is he? What happened? Should I get the kids here?" I looked at her and then rubbed her arms. "There was a pileup. 8-10 cars. Him and Matteo were in his Pickup..." Laura then got worried. "Oh my god, is Matteo okay?" I nodded. "He just has minor scratches and bruises. The car seat saved him. However, Antonio is currently unconscious, on a breathing machine and he is being monitored from brain activity."

Laura then looked at me. "I should definitely get the kids here." I nodded and sighed. "I can't believe I am saying this but, maybe we should get my dad here." Matt turned to look at me. "What?" I sighed, knowing he was not happy. "Matt, that's his only son. Imagine if that was Matteo and you were in jail. Wouldn't you want to...."

I couldn't say the words but, Matt knew what I meant. "Fine, but only if the doctors say it's that serious. If a doctor guarantees us that he is going to survive this, then your dad stays in jail." I sighed and nodded. "Can I at least go call him and tell him what's happening?" Matt looked at me and then walked up to me. "Are you sure you want to talk to him after all he did to us?"

I stared at him before nodding. "We have to do it in person though. He can't get this news over the phone. I know he's in prison in Chicago so....can you drive me there?" Matt nodded and sighed. "You are lucky I love you." I then turned to look at Laura. "Laura?" She turned to look at me. "I'm gonna go tell my dad okay? We'll be back soon." Laura nodded before we left.
