Gabby's POV
As our waiter brought back the bottle of wine we ordered, I stopped eating my fajitas before grabbing some salad. "Don't forget to eat the salad Matt." Matt nodded and smiled when he saw the waiter set the wine down. "Would you like me to poor you guys a couple glasses?" Matt smiled at him. "That would be amazing." The waiter then proceeded to make us some glasses.
Once our glasses were full, he set the bottle down and then walked away to give us our privacy. Grabbing my glass of wine, I looked at Matt. "To us and our future together." Matt smiled, liking the toast before putting our glasses together. "I like that. Our future together." I smiled at him. "Who thought that, almost a year ago there would even be an 'our future' together?"
Matt nodded and sighed. "I want you to know Gabby, I am glad we are back together and married again. I should've fought for you last time. You are my Miracle and my home. I realize that now. Well, I realized it after our 'home' burned down and we had to start over." I then looked at him. "What do you mean when you say I'm your home?"
Matt sighed and then looked at me. "When you first left, I said that I was a Chicago guy and Chicago was my home. Sure, at the time...I felt it was true. However, over time I realized that Chicago wasn't my home. My home is wherever you are. Wherever my heart is. Honestly, I tried to move on so many times but I couldn't. Trust me, the first few hookups where horrible."
I just stared at him. "Okay, let me stop you there. I get that was when we were divorced. But, I really don't need that in my head babe. Especially not when it was in our home, obviously. Please, for my sake....just forget about those." Matt nodded and apologized. "Sorry about that." I smiled at him and then went to rub his hand. "Listen, let's finish eating. I want to take a walk down the beach before we go to bed. Watch the sunset." Matt nodded and smiled, liking that idea.
