Matt's POV
An hour after the accident, I was now sitting in the waiting room at Chicago Med while Matteo was being checked and Antonio was in surgery. I rubbed my hands over my eyes when I heard Chief Ritter walk in. He then looked at me. "You okay Captain Casey?" I sighed and looked up at him. "I should've never taken over the firehouse. I am not ready for this. I am a new dad." He nodded and smiled. "It was good of you to try at least. How's your brother-in-law and son?"
That's when I noticed he had my bag. "They're good but how do you have my stuff?" He smiled. "I was at the scene before you left. Severide asked me to come back with him. I grabbed your things and brought your car. If you want, I can take the Chief's car back to the firehouse with me. Oh, I also have Dawson's things too." He then gave me all of our things. "Thank you so much Chief. I am so sorry that I let you down." He put his hand on my shoulder and smiled.
"Casey, you left to concentrate on your family. You've been through hell in the past couple months. Boden said take all the time you need. And do just that. Take all the time you need and take advantage of those partial shifts. Now, they keys?" I nodded and then went to give him the keys to Chief's car. I then smiled at him. "Thank you so much. Now, I am going to see Gabby." I then moved to walk back into the ER so that I could go see Gabby, Matteo and Antonio.
