Matt's POV
When I heard Gabby come back to the gym after only 30 minutes, I was both confused and concerned. "Hey, what are you doing back already?" She looked at me and sighed. "The spa is trash. The massages are horrible, the masseuse is out sick, there's no sauna and no hair salon." I sighed, feeling bad for her. "Sorry that's the case."
Gabby then walked over to Matteo and smiled at him. "You guys keep going, we can talk about what you were talking about. You want to be a paramedic?" I nodded before walking over to her and kissing her forehead. "Just sit down with him and I will continue." I then moved back to the treadmill so that Gabby could get comfortable.
Grabbing Matteo from his stroller, she moved to walk over to some chairs that are in the fitness room before sitting down with her on her lap. I then smiled at her before explaining. "I am thinking about becoming a paramedic because I don't want you to worry as much. I mean, at least for a while." Gabby looked at me.
"Matt, I love the idea but...you would be miserable. Trust me, you wouldn't want to do it full time. It's nothing like being a firefighter. And don't argue with me because, if you forgot...I was both a Paramedic and a Firefighter." I nodded before looking at her. "Maybe I can at least do a ride along with you one day. It's something I regret not doing when we were first married."
Gabby smiled when I said that. "You have your Paramedic's training right? I think they give it to you at the Academy. I got to skip that class because I was already a paramedic-in-chief before I went to the Academy so...I don't know whether it is a basic class or a full fledged class." I tried to remember and then nodded. "I think it's full fledged emergency. Mills never had to do re-training." Gabby nodded and remembered that. "That's right. Well, you would do great on ambo. We could do a few shifts together when we get back instead of going right back to fire."
I thought about it and then looked at her. "We don't just have to talk to Chief Boden though. We also have to talk to your chief. What's his name again?" Gabby smiled. "Chief Hatcher." I nodded and smiled when I heard her phone ring. Gabby turned to look at it. She then went to see who it was when she saw it was Severide. "Hey Severide, what's up?"
