Jake's POV: As Melanie asked me what Gabby meant when she said "Don't make the same mistake I did!" I turned to look at her and wrapped my arm around her waist. "Gabby isn't just my friend from Chicago. She's my ex-girlfriend." Melanie then stepped close to me and smiled. "Oh, well looks like she found herself a great man."
I smiled at her. "He is a great guy. I actually worked under him when I was in Chicago. Melanie, meet Lieutenant Casey of Firehouse 51." Matt then smiled at me. "Actually, it's Captain Casey." I looked at him. "Well congratulations on the upgrade. I am still just a firefighter where we live." Gabby then smiled at me. "Where do you live now anyways Jake?"
I smiled at her. "We are in South Bend now. God, I am so proud of our former mayor. Pete's a great guy. I met him while doing a rotation at the South Bend Fire Department." Matt then looked at me. "Unfortunately, I was a Biden supporter. I endorsed him as a former Chicago alderman." Gabby then turned to look at me. "Was? Please don't tell me...."
Matt turned to look at her. "Gabby! First of all, the election hasn't even happened. And second of all, you really think I can support an anti-immigration president when my wife and son are first- and second-generation Americans? You are here because your parents immigrated here. I could never do that to you!" Gabby then nodded and smiled. "Okay, enough politics. I don't need it ruining my new marriage. Listen, it was nice seeing you Cordova but...we are going to keep walking. Enjoy our first night alone since becoming parents." I nodded and then hugged her. "It was nice to see you Gabby, say hi to Antonio for me." Gabby smiled before rubbing Matt's arm. They then proceeded to walk away just like me and Melanie.
