I Didn't Do It

When I arrived at the station, they took me in the back for questioning. Except it felt like everything but questioning. They were interrogating me, telling me how I was a horrible mother, how I didn't deserve to have a child.

"What kind of mother would just leave her few month old baby on the street in the middle of the night? Why did you do it huh? Were you tired of her? What? She didn't want to listen so you just threw her outside?"

I was crying and trying to tell them that none of that was true. I would never do such a horrible thing.  As it turns out, someone had called in and said that they found a small baby on the street in front of our house. She had been laying down on the street and the person who called in nearly ran over her.

"THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE. SHE WAS IN HER CRIB. I FED HER AND PUT HER TO SLEEP. I SAW HER SLEEPING ON THE MONITOR. I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO HER, YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE ME."

As the police officer kept interrogating me, the more I spoke the crazier I sounded to them.

"They are back after me. I'm telling you the people found me again and they took her."

"Who is back after you?"

"The man without a face. He has always been after me. He was the one who took Hannah and killed Amy and Silas and now he wants to hurt Lilli too."

"Have you been using drugs?"

"NO!!! I have never done drugs in my life."

"Yeah. We'll see about that."

"I need to speak to Evan. You can't do this. I did nothing wrong."

He totally ignored me and walked outside.

I sat there going over a million questions and thoughts in my head. I was so scared!!! I just wanted Lilli back in my arms. Suddenly, I see Evan on the little window on the side.

"Honey, please stay strong. I will get you out of there. I just want you to know Lilli is fine. She is safe and I will be taking her home as soon as they bring her here."

"Evan, please call Mr. Walther. He is the chief of police. He knows everything."

As soon as I said that, they closed the window and I couldn't see any of them anymore. Within a few minutes, a woman walked inside with two officers and she was carrying bags in her hand.

"This is Veronica. She will be administering your drug test."

"I AM NOT ON DRUGS!!!"

Of course they didn't believe me. As if it wasn't bad enough they thought I was crazy, they thought I was on drugs too. They made me take a urine and blood test to see which drugs I was on. Holy crap!!! Not just one, but they thought I was on multiple drugs. I also knew Evan was lying. I knew he was just telling me that Lilli was safe so I wouldn't totally lose my mind. I'm positive that they already wanted to place me in some mental hospital and if I thought that Lilli was hurt or dead I would definitely end up in one.  A couple of hours later, I saw a man come inside the room.

"Hello, my name is Fred Russ. I have been appointed as your attorney. I hear you know Mr.Walther?"

"Yes I do. He is the chief of police in Duskwood."

"From now on, you will not answer any questions to anybody without me being present. Do you understand?"

"Yes I do."

"I will ask you a couple of questions and I want you to answer them to the best of your knowledge."

He sat down in front of me with a notebook and pen. Behind him stood a police officer. Everything was being recorded.
