Life Is Unfair

What did she do wrong? What could she have possibly done in the short amount of time she had been on this earth to deserve the pain and suffering she would go through for the rest of her life? What was the reason my poor Lilli would never know her father? What was it, huh? What was it???

Lilli's father, my husband, someone's son, friend, colleague, and person who always did everything in his power to make everyone around him happy. He was gone!!!

I yelled and screamed at God!!!

Horrible people who hurt others, tortured, killed, made others suffer, and feel unimaginable pain were alive. While someone who always helped others made people happy and smile was the most kind, caring, sweet, loving, hardworking, gentle soul on this planet, it was gone.

How was that fair? What kind of sick lesson was that to teach someone?

Evan was dead, and my life was over!!!

I woke up that Friday morning happy and feeling better than I had in a long time. I made breakfast for Evan, Lilli, and myself. While Evan got ready for work, I got Lilli and myself ready to go run some errands and go to my parents' house.

Before we left the house, Evan kissed Lilli and I goodbye.

"You girls have fun, and Daddy will see you when I get back home. I love you both more than life itself."

"We love you too, Daddy."

"Bye, my loves."

"Lilli, can you say bye to Daddy?"

"Baiii baiii"

She would always wave at him as he left the house and say bye bye well, in her own way.

"Bye honey, have a safe day at work. I'll see you later on. I love you."

We watched him drive off the driveway as he sent us a kiss goodbye.

This was our morning ritual every day. We would always walk him outside and kiss him goodbye.

Once he came back home, we would both kiss Lilli goodnight. Except tonight, I would be the only one kissing her.

As Evan left for work, I put Lilli in her car seat and went to get some errands done before I went to my parents' house. Evan was meeting us there after work since his parents were also coming over for dinner tonight.

I went to the store and got a couple of things I needed for dinner, stopped by the post office and sent the last few wedding invitations I had to finish sending, and went to get oil change on the car. After I was done, I drove to my parents' house.

Once I got there, I helped my mom around the house as Lilli played around.

It was around noon when Evan called me from work while he was on lunch.

"Hi honey, how's your day going?" I asked.

"It's going well. It's not too busy today, thank God. There is actually a new intern who I have to train, so it's pretty boring, hehe."

"Well, I guess it's better than having to run around all day, right?"

"Oh, definitely. What are you girls up to?"

"We're just here at my parents' house. I sent the invitation and got the oil changed. Later on, we're going to prepare dinner for tonight. What time do you think you're going to finish hun?"

"I shouldn't be any later than six. Especially if the new guy gets a hang of things."

"Well, you have a nice remainder of your day, and I will talk to you when you get off. I love you to pieces. You're my dream come true.
