Wake Me Up

I don't know how long it's been or how I even got here. But... I was back at the hospital. I was alone. No doctors, no nurses, no friends and no Evan. I was shocked when I woke up in the hospital bed. Last thing I remember was being with Michael, so where was he? I wanted to get up, but I couldn't. As soon as I tried to move, the whole room would spin and I felt like I was going to fall over. I wanted someone to show up, anybody. I wasn't sure if I was dreaming or awake.

Slowly I made my way to the hospital bedroom door which was closed. I open it and I peek my head out the door into the dark, lonely hallway. This couldn't be real, it was way too quiet to be a hospital. I mean, where was everyone at? I step a foot into the hallway and I feel paralyzed with fear. As scary as it was in my room, it felt safer than in this dark hallway. As much as I want to go search for someone, I feel trapped. "Hello? Anybody here?" I finally exclaimed. It was so quiet that my sound echoed through the whole hallway. "Evan, can you hear me? Please, I need someone. Where am I?" Still... no answer!!! Not a single sound. Not a single room was occupied with a patient. Now I was beginning to panic more than I already had.

This had to be some kind of mistake, I can't be all alone in this big hospital. Someone had to have at least dropped me off here, right? Out of the corner of my eye, I saw it. A shadow of someone pass by. Quickly I ran into that direction, but before I could even blink it was gone. My head was throbbing in pain, I felt like I was under heavy medication which must have had horrible side effects because I felt extremely lightheaded and nauseous. I entered the lobby and to my surprise, it was completely empty. This can't be happening! What kind of hospital doesn't have a single other person? "Hellllooooo, can anybody hear me?" I shout. That's when I heard it, the voice of someone else. I actually wasn't sure if I was imagining things, hearing my own echo speaking back to me, or I was hearing someone else.

"Hey, I'm all alone. Can someone please come get me? Where are you?" I heard the voice again, this time more clear and loud. It was a male voice, which I figured had to be Evan. I just couldn't understand why he wasn't close to me, why he'd leave me all alone? I turned the corner and I saw it, a male figure standing there with a hoodie facing the wall. That's weird, I thought to myself. "Are you okay? Where is everyone else at?" I didn't get a reply back for a few minutes, so I got closer. Just as I was getting ready to reach over and touch his arm, he spoke.

"I need you to fight!!! I need you to make it out of this alive. I'm waiting for you, the same way I always have. Please don't give up..."

"Dude, what are you talking about? Will you please look at me?"

"You're strong and you will get through this. Just remember that I love you."

And just like that, he was gone! I had been woken up by the sounds of the doctors and nurses all rushing around me. I heard Evan calling my name, telling me to wake up. Whoa! I can't believe I just had a dream, or at least I think it was a dream. Maybe it was a memory... but to what?

"Ma'am, can you hear me?"
"Please wake up!"
"How long has she been in there?"
"We need to get her to an MRI right away."

I opened my eyes halfway and saw the bright lights of the hallways that passed by like the beaming headlights of cars passing by. I was being rushed, I could feel the bed I was laying on moving under me as the wheels turned. I just saw a sudden bright light that turned dark as if someone had shut off the lights and I was unconscious again. They always say when someone dies, they see a flashing bright light, so was I dead? I didn't feel dead! But then again, does anybody? I don't know what that's like, I can only go based on the stories I heard. The only thing making me think I wasn't dead, was the fact that everyone says once you die, you don't feel any pain. I, however, was in extreme pain.
