Jessy was finally out of the hospital and feeling much better. I can't even begin to explain how happy I was to see her out and back to her usual self. As hard and as challenging as our lives had been, we also had a lot to celebrate and be happy for. We were all alive, healthy, happy, in love, and had two special engagements to celebrate. Since none of our friends knew about our engagements, we decided to throw a party for Evan and me as well as Jessy and Richy, where we would share the wonderful news with them all. I didn't want it to be just a regular party like the kind we had before. We wanted it to be special, so we decided on a beautiful location in a new city none of us had been to before.
After all, you don't get engaged every day, especially not together at the same time as your best friend. I had been searching for places and hotels for about a week now, and I had finally found the perfect place. We were going to spend the whole weekend there. My parents wanted to invite my in-laws over that weekend and they all wanted to spend time with Lilli, so it all worked out perfectly.
I remember it clearly. It was a Thursday evening and at this point, I had already been searching for hours for the perfect place. I finally opened a website and I saw it. As soon as I looked at the place and the hotel, I fell in love. I showed it to Evan and sent the link to Richy and Jessy and they all loved it just as much as I did. I think even Lilli agreed because as she was sitting by my side, she began to giggle and bounce up and down.
Speaking of Lilli, she was seven in a half months now. She laughed at things she found funny and would get mad when things didn't go her way. She already had an attitude at just 7 months, I always wondered where she got that from. Evan says it's from me, but I wouldn't agree. She loved to watch cartoons and listen to music. Her favorite things to eat now were mashed potatoes and carrots. She wasn't a picky eater, she just had strong preferences. That was definitely her dad's trait she picked up. Even though he always says "I eat everything you make. I'm not picky." Yet, last night when I made a delicious beef broccoli stir fry that was to die for, he refused to eat anything because it had broccoli in it.
I wasn't even aware that he didn't like broccoli. But, the list of things he didn't like seemed to be growing bigger with each meal I made. I was actually thinking of sending him back to his mommy's house, since our seven month old daughter was less picky then he was. I was sure that Lilli was going to start walking at an early age because, every time she saw Evan come into the house, she would start to push up with her legs and want to walk to him. But whenever she saw me, she just didn't even care.
How wonderful, right? I went through nine months of pregnancy, carrying her, taking care of her, watching every single thing I ate or drank, couldn't sleep, couldn't bend down, horrible pains, not to mention morning sickness that wasn't just in the morning but in the morning, evening, and night. Then, I went through horrible pains and a nightmare delivery, only for her to choose her dad over me. Oh and she didn't listen to a word I said!!!
I say no to her and she ignores me as if I was talking to a wall, but the minute her dad says no, little miss perfect stops what she is doing that instant. I really prayed that when we had our next baby it would be a boy and he would be a total mommy's boy, so Evan could see how it felt to be me right now. Speaking of babies, Lilli was getting a new play date soon. Remember Lilly's boyfriend? The firefighter? Well I guess Lilly had been a wonderful step mom to his daughter, so much so that they decided to add another little one to their family. I guess while he was putting out fire at other people's houses, he had been burning his place up with Lilly.
She was now three months pregnant. They kept the pregnancy a secret until the first trimester was over. We actually just found out a couple of days ago. That's why picking the perfect place for our celebration was so important to me. For the first time in what seemed like forever, we were all going to spend time together. Jessy, Richy, Dan, Harley, Phil, Thomas, Hannah, Cleo, Lilly, Scott, Evan and I. Scott is Lilly's boyfriend. I only met him once before at the beginning of their relationship. He has a daughter, Emma who is an absolutely beautiful girl. Lilly always posted pictures of her, and they got along amazingly. I had a feeling Lilly was now carrying a little boy, but we would have to wait to find out. Since we were all going to be together, I had to make sure to find a hotel that would have enough availability as well as be perfect for all of us.
