It was late at night so when my phone rang I immediately knew that something was wrong. I had no idea who was calling me but whoever it was, I had to pick up.
I quickly grabbed my phone and answered as quietly as I could without waking Lilli up.
"Hello?"
"Madisyn...it's me Daron. Listen to me…"
"Daron, it's past midnight. What the hell is going on?"
"I don't want to ruin your night but… ummm I need to tell you something."
"Will you please just spit it out? What is it?"
"MWAF is here!!!"
"Where here? As in your house?"
"No, he is in the city. He contacted me and told me that if I don't get you and bring you to him within the next couple of days, he's going to do it himself."
"What the hell do you mean if you don't bring me to him??"
"Madisyn… I… we're in a lot of trouble. He's actually here. You need to leave now!!!"
"I'm not leaving Daron. Absolutely not! I have been running and hiding for years now, I'm done doing that."
"Where is Jake? I need to speak to him."
"Don't even bother trying to get him to change my mind. I'm not leaving."
"Hand me the phone!!!"
"No!"
"MADISYN, HAND THE PHONE OVER!"
"I SAID NO. FORGET IT… I AM NOT RUNNING AWAY AGAIN."
Jake grabbed the phone out of my hand as soon as he heard me talking to him. As grateful as he was that Daron saved my life he was still mad at him because Jake blamed him for not telling him sooner that I went to see Ted. Jake wanted Daron to have nothing to do with me anymore and I honestly didn't blame him. He never liked Daron and now, he really hates him. He even blamed Daron for me going to find Ted in the first place since if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have ever known where he was.
"Didn't I tell you not to ever contact her again??"
"Jake! Listen to me. You need to get Madisyn out of here. MWAF is here and he…"
"Here? As in the city??"
"She won't listen to me and she refuses to leave so you have to get her out of here."
I don't know where Daron thought I was but I was right next to Jake and I heard everything. I appreciated how concerned he was about me and my safety but I really was tired of running and hiding. This time, I wasn't going to. I was going to face him no matter what it was going to take. He was the only person left that I had to deal with and there was nothing I wasn't prepared to do to get all this finally over with even if that meant me losing my life. I was sick and tired of going from county to county hiding and running away from someone who was going to find me no matter where I ran to. I mean he always did…
"Daron, can we meet tomorrow?" Asked Jake.
"Yes. I will be there in the morning."
"I'll see you then and don't worry about Madi, I'll talk to her."
"Okay I'll see you guys."
Has Jake really lost his mind? He knew damn well I was not going anywhere. I was not going to leave my siblings and my dad and go somewhere new and unfamiliar again. I honestly didn't care what he was going to say or do, I was not leaving. I completely understood that they were trying to protect me but I was also aware that there was no protection good enough for MWAF. There was nothing he wasn't willing to do as he had made that clear to me a very long time ago. I knew him! I had learned every single one of his moves and the way he functioned but what he didn't know was me. He had no idea who he had turned me into. He might think he knew who I was as a person and maybe at one point, he would have been correct but not right now. Now I was someone I still had a hard time recognizing.
