In The Blink Of An Eye

Flashback

"Ma'am do you know this woman?" One of the officers asked. 

I was so out of it that I didn't even hear him ask me anything. All I kept thinking about was poor Jessy and how scared she must have been. I had flashbacks of Alan and Michael and I totally lost all idea of where I was. 

"Ma'am?" He said while he grabbed my shoulder which started me and I screamed. 

"Hey, it's okay. You're safe. I'm an officer." 

I stepped to the side while the paramedics came and rushed Jessy out. I'm sure Evan's parents were now in the car absolutely petrified. They didn't even know if I was okay or not as they hadn't seen me come out since I came in here. 

"Can you tell me what happened here?" Asked the officer who still stood next to me. 

"My friend came here earlier today, while she waited for me to call her. I was visiting my fiances' parents and I was supposed to call her to come pick me up."

"Is that the last time you saw her? When she dropped you off?" 

"Yes, earlier today a couple of hours ago?" 

Evan's mom was screaming my name through the coffee shop as she had seen Jessy being taken out and placed into the ambulance. 

"That's my partner's mother. She is looking for me. She thinks something must have happened to me as well." 

"I'll go tell her that you're okay."  

He walks out and the only thing crossing my mind now, is how I was going to tell Evan, Richy, my parents? Who all thought that we went shopping and now here we were in this coffee shop where Jessy had been hurt. If we had been together, she would have never got attacked. I should have known better than to let her go alone. This is all my fault!!! As the officer came back inside, he looked at me and said, 

"Do you want to step outside? Your future mom is waiting for you and she said that your daughter is outside crying."

I followed him outside where all these people were standing around looking. Do you realize what that looked like? They had just rushed Jessy on stretchers and put her in the ambulance car and now I was walking outside covered in her blood with an officer next to me. Everyone thought I was the one that did this! I saw Stacey and Jack, who are Evan's parents by the way. They were both in shock and waiting on the side of the door with my poor little baby terrified crying. When she saw me, she began crying even harder which really made me feel like some kind of monster. 

"Will you please take her back to the car? She doesn't need to be seeing this" I shouted.

It wasn't Jack's fault. He was terrified and scared himself. He wasn't thinking straight. As soon as he even realized he had Lilli in his hands, he rushed back and sat in the car. Stacey came up to me and wanted to hug me but the officer didn't allow her. 

"Ma'am, we can't let you touch her right now. In case of evidence." 

"She didn't do this. She was just with us at our house." Stacey shouted. 

"I'm not saying she did. But she was the first one to see her. So we are hoping whoever did this, left some kind of evidence behind for us to find."

"I'm going to have to ask you to follow me to the station, I just want a report of what happened and we need your clothes." 

The officer looked at Stacey and said,

"Ma'am, is there a way you can get her some clean clothing and bring it down to the police station at St James' Courtyard? 

"Of course. I'm going right now."

Stacey and Jack left with Lilly while I went to the police station with the officers. Here I was once again at this stupid ass police station again.
