Suddenly I heard the door get unlocked. Slowly the door opened and there he was, Richy standing at the door with his mouth wide open. Before he could say anything I put my finger to my mouth signaling for him to be quiet and not make a sound. I don't know where Jessy was but she wasn't in the living room when we came in. While Richy was still staring at us like he had seen a ghost, I smiled at him and hugged him as hard as I could.
"Where is Jessy?" I whispered to him.
"She's in the room. Do you want to go surprise her?" He whispered back.
"May I?"
"Yeah, go ahead. Omg she is going to die!!!"
Before I could reach the room, I heard her yelling across the house.
"Honey...who was at the door?"
I looked back at Richy while he winked at me and smiled.
"It was just someone trying to sell something. I hate when they come knocking on the door. Let me grab a drink, I'll be right there."
I waited for him to finish talking and slowly made my way to the room. As I approached the door, I saw her sitting on the bed facing the opposite direction from the door. Thankfully she couldn't see me right away. I took one deep breath and stepped into the room.
"I was wondering if you'd like to buy some cookies for girls scouts?"
She quickly turned around. When I tell you the minute she saw me, her whole facial expression changed.
"MADISYN!!!" She shouted as she jumped up and ran to me.
"OMG OMG OMGGG IT'S YOU!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" She continued shouting.
That's when I heard it... the sound of the crying baby in the room next door.
"I got it honey" yelled Richy as he ran to the room.
"WAIT!!! IS THAT?" I asked in shock.
"It is, that's our daughter." She responded.
As we both looked at each other with huge smiles on our faces, she ran up and hugged me so tight I thought I was going to stop breathing. For someone so petite, she had a lot of strength.
"I can't believe you're here!!! When did you get here? You're alone???"
"No, Jake and Lilli..."
I couldn't even finish my sentence before she ran past me and made her way to the living room. I turned around to follow her to see her run up to Jake and Lilli.
"OMG!!! Aren't you a beautiful little girl. You've grown so much" she exclaimed with tears in her eyes.
"Hi, I'm Lilli."
"Hi honey, I know you probably don't even remember me. My name is Jessy. I'm your mom's friend."
"I remember you. Not a lot but I remember seeing you before."
"The last time I saw you, you were much smaller. Now you're a big girl."
"This is my daddy, Jake. Do you know him?"
"I do sweetheart, I know your dad as well."
When she said that she turned around to look at me and she looked back at Jake. We both just smiled at her. As we stood there and she hugged Jake, Richy came out of the bedroom holding their daughter in his arms.
I looked at him and he smiled as he made his way closer to us. She was a couple of months old and as beautiful as baby doll. She didn't didn't look real and if I hadn't heard her cry, I wouldn't have believed that she was.
