I'm To Blame

"Hey, hey it's just a nightmare" someone exclaimed. 

I looked over and it was Jake and a nurse standing next to my bed. I looked around and I was in the hospital room. I quickly looked back at Jake and began to cry. I had no idea what was real and what was a nightmare anymore. Was he really there? Was he actually standing next to me? How do I know if this is part of reality? 

"Babe, please calm down. You've been having nightmares every single night." 

"I need to see Lilli. I need to see my daughter." 

"She's okay honey. Please just calm down and I'll take you to go see her." 

"I NEED TO SEE HER RIGHT NOW! TAKE ME TO MY DAUGHTER!!!" 

"Ma'am calm down! Let me take that out of your arms and we can take you." 

I quickly yanked all the cords and IV out of my arms and threw it on the ground. 

"NO STOP DON'T DO THAT YOU'RE GOING TO HURT YOURSELF." 

"I SAID TO TAKE ME TO SEE MY DAUGHTER. NOW!!!" 

Jake grabbed me by my arm and slowly picked me off the bed. As much as I wish I could have taken my time to slowly crawl out of here, I didn't have the time. Something was wrong and I just knew it!!! As soon as we stepped into the hallway, I felt like I was having dejavu. All I saw was nurses and doctors running towards a room as a loud beeping sound came from inside the room. I let go of Jake and ran towards the room as Jake ran right after me. The second I got to the door of the room I saw Lilli lying on the bed connected to so many machines. I don't know which machine was beeping but it sounded like all of them were at some point. 

"LILLIIIIII" I cried. 

"Ma'am I need you to stay out." 

"THAT'S MY DAUGHTER! WHAT IS GOING ON? WHAT IS HAPPENING?" 

"Ma'am let the nurses and doctors do their job." 

"I'M HER MOTHER! MY JOB IS TO ME BY MY DAUGHTER. I DON'T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE." 

"Let her in," a doctor exclaimed. 

"I'm doctor Spielberg, I have been taking care of your daughter. You come in here every single day to see her and we do the same thing every day. Your daughter had a head injury and lung rupture. She was doing well but today she had an acute respiratory failure and we had to perform emergency surgery. During the surgery she started bleeding uncontrollably. We thought we lost her for a while there. However, thankfully everything went well and she will make a full recovery." 

"YOU'RE KIDDING ME RIGHT?" 

"Excuse me?" 

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN I'VE BEEN HERE EVERY SINGLE DAY?" 

"You'll come again tomorrow the same way you've been doing the past four days." 

"What the hell are you talking about??" 

"Doctor...do you mind if I take it from here?" Asked Jake. 

"Of course. Lilli is doing better and she should recover soon and hopefully be able to get out of here." 

"Thank you so much Dr.Spielberg. 

I rushed to Lilli's bedside and grabbed her little hand. Everyone was clearly trying to make me look crazy. I would know if I saw my daughter yesterday or the past few days. I had no idea what was happening but at this point I didn't even care. The only thing I wanted to do was sit next to my daughter until she was ready to get out. 

As I stood next to her bed and held her hand the tears started falling down my face. 

"Hi sweetie...it's your mommy. You be strong for me and hang in there. Mommy misses and loves you so much. I can't wait to go home and play around the same way we always do. You're strong and I know you will be out of here really soon. We have to go and buy things for the little baby brother or sister. I love you."
