Past Lovers

I could tell that he wanted to tell me something but the words couldn't come out of his mouth. I was positive that it was going to be that he had sex with someone but fact that he didn't made me confused since I couldn't come up with anything else he could tell me right now. I wanted for him to be comfortable to be able to tell me anything, however, right now it seemed like he wasn't.

"You can tell me no matter what it is, you know that right?"

"I got in touch with my ex-girlfriend..."

He couldn't even finish the sentence before my mouth dropped to the ground and I cut him off.

"I'm sorry... what?? Your ex-girlfriend?"

"I do have an ex you know, I may have been in a hideout and a hacker but that doesn't mean that I didn't have a love life."

"Okay so why are you telling me this now?"

"She has been contacting me for some time now and she sent me a message last night asking if she could see me."

"If you care about your life at all, YOU BETTER HAVE SAID NO! YOU SAID NO... RIGHT?!?"

"JAKE!!! YOU SAID NO... RIGHT?"

"I actually saw her when I went to try on my suit."

"Hehehe okay good one. That's funny. I see what you're doing here. You're trying to get me back for sleeping with Silas."

"I'm not! I really did see her."

"HAVE YOU LOST YOUR FUCKEN MIND?? WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN YOU SAW HER? WHY???"

I couldn't believe the words that were coming out of his mouth. He looked serious but I was still convinced that he was just trying to get me mad. There was no way he was telling me the truth and that even after everything we have been through, he was still in touch with his ex-girlfriend. He was getting mad at me for something I did while we weren't together and here he was seeing his ex behind my back days before our wedding. There was no way this was real, no way!

"DO YOU HEAR WHAT I AM ASKING YOU? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, WHY WOULD YOU SEE HER?"

"When I got in contact with her a while back, she wanted to come see me but couldn't for personal reasons. We stopped talking for a couple of months and when she started writing to me again, I was going through hell because of everything going on with you and with Evan. I wanted to have someone to distract me and get my mind off things so I wrote her back. Ever since then we have been in contact. However, I never told her about us so when she said she wanted to come and see me, I agreed."

"WOW! I can't believe what I'm hearing right now."

"Wait, hold on."

He came closer to me and I stepped back away from him. The way things were going I was expecting for him to tell me that he's been cheating on me our entire relationship.

"The only reason I saw her was to tell her that I need for her to stop contacting me and to delete my number. I told her that I was happily in love and that I was getting married. I needed her to see me face to face so she could see how serious I was. I told her all about you, about us and I even showed her pictures. I couldn't get married knowing that she was still contacting me even though our conversations were never anything more than friendship."

"I hope you realize I don't believe a single word you're saying right now."

"I promise to you that's all that happened. I would never, ever do anything to hurt you. I just needed her to see that I wasn't lying. The thing is... we were supposed to get married."
