She was running around in the pathway between the graves on the two opposite sides. On the left side was my mom's grave and on the right was Evans and Lilli was running on the concrete pathway that separated the two sides. As soon as I laid my eyes on her I walked over to where she was. I didn't mind that she was running around as long as I had my eyes on her and she was on the pathway and not running on the graves. I don't know why she was running but she definitely seemed to be running after something or away from something.
"Oh thank God you found her" exclaimed Jake as he approached me.
"Do you see what she is running from?"
"Ummm I don't think she is running from anything. It actually seems like she is running after something."
The closer I got to her the more I realized that Jake was right. She indeed was running after something. Actually, she was chasing it. Jake and I started walking faster in order to be able to catch up to her. That's when I saw it. Lilli was chasing two beautiful dragonflies that kept on going around her as if they were playing with her. No matter how much she chased them they never once flew away from her. Instead, they seemed to be loving it just as much as she was. I sat down with Jake next to me as we watched Lilli chase the dragonflies. I've never seen anything like that in my entire life. The dragonflies kept on landing on her hand and shoulder and playing with her the entire time.
"Do you see what I am seeing?" I exclaimed.
"I'm speechless right now! I can't believe that the dragonflies aren't flying away from her. This is going to sound absolutely crazy but... it seems like they are playing with her."
"Jake, it's not crazy... they are!"
That's when it hit me, the realization of the dragonflies. "The dragonflies appear when Angels are near." How could I not have seen it right away? Two perfect little dragonflies flying around my daughter and playing with her. Remember a while ago when I said that dragonflies represent the souls of our loved ones? Those weren't just any dragonflies... those were the souls of Evan and my mom playing with Lilli. Out of nowhere I see Lilli running to me with her arms out in front of her.
"Mommy... look" she exclaimed with happiness.
"What honey? What is it?"
"Look!!! It's dragonflies."
As she got closer to me, I saw the dragonflies on her palms. She was carrying them both in the palm of her hands and they just stood there so still without flying away. I couldn't believe my eyes. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and I definitely couldn't make any sense out of it. At least not one that most people would accept.
"Wow honey, they are beautiful! Be careful with them okay?"
As I looked at the dragonflies I noticed something and the minute I saw it, I began to cry again. I looked at Jake and he wiped my tears off of my eyes. I didn't want Lilli to see my crying again so I had to stop before she could see me. I turned around and wiped my tears away.
"Are you okay?" Asked Jake.
"Jake... did you see it? Did you see the wings of the dragonflies?"
"The wings? No! What about them?"
"Lilli honey can you come here for a minute?" I asked.
Lilli ran to us with the dragonflies. One of the dragonflies was on her shoulder and the other one still in her palm. I looked even closer this time and I saw it again. The dragonflies had different sized wings and one of them had the wings spread apart and the other one had the wings slicked back against the body.
