It's Actually True

"Ummm Jake? Are you done? Lilli wants some more ice cream"

"Oh yes sorry. I just got off the phone, you can come back here. I missed you girls."

"Lilliiiiii, daddy is waiting for you" I shouted.

Lilli came running out of the room and jumped on the couch next to Jake. I was so happy to see him and her together again. There was nothing I loved more than watching the way they interacted with each other. Looking at the two of them I nearly began to cry at how happy they both looked. That's when it hit me, I was pregnant and he had no idea. I wanted to tell him right then and there but I was scared. I mean, I didn't know how long he was actually staying or that he wouldn't get up tomorrow and leave again. I wanted to believe him, I wanted to believe that he was going to stay with us and that things were going back to normal.

I remembered Jessy's words "it's his baby and he deserves to know he's going to be a dad."

Jake did deserve to know and if I was sure of anything it was that Jake is a great father. He was going to be so excited and Lilli was going to be so happy to be a big sister. I just couldn't tell him yet. Not here and not like this. Our wedding got ruined so I had to make sure that whenever I decided to tell him, it was going to be special.

Don't get me wrong it wasn't going to matter or change anything. I was sure that no matter how I told him he was going to be ecstatic but I wanted it to be intimate and special especially after knowing how much he wanted this. I didn't know how long Jake was going to be gone. I was sure that I would have to go to my first ultrasound alone but he was here now and there was nothing more I wanted than for him to go with me. I remember how much my pregnancy and birth of Lilli changed not only me but also Evan. From the first day I found I was pregnant he did everything to make sure he was by my side and be there throughout it all. I didn't want Jake to miss out on any of that. I wanted him to experience the whole pregnancy along my side.

My first ultrasound appointment was on Monday morning so I had to find a way to tell him before then. But how???

"Hey, do you mind staying here with Lilli while I go to Jessy's house? I won't stay long. She called me earlier asking me for help."

"Is everything okay?"

"Yeah it's just that Sophie has been very cranky and teething bad so she asked if I could come over and watch her while she goes to the store and gets something."

"Oh babies teething ouch...that's the worst."

"Yeah it gets very ugly sometimes. I promised I would go. I was planning on going with Lilli but since you're here..."

"Yeah of course go ahead, I'll stay with Lilli, don't worry about anything."

"I'll be back as soon as possible."

I went and kissed them before I left the house. I was so nervous!!! I had to go and get a pregnancy test and take it at her house. Plus I wanted to buy a pair of baby clothes and a box to put it all in before I went back to the house. I did not think I was going to be doing this so soon into our marriage but here I was.

I looked around town to find the first store that sold baby clothes. I couldn't believe that I had such a hard time finding one, like where do these people get baby clothes from? I was used to big cities with a hundred baby shops. I'm sure they had some here too but I was not having any luck. Just as I was about to call Jessy to ask her, I saw a little shop called "From The Stork" and decided to give it a try.

"Welcome to From The Stork can I help you find anything?" Asked the women in the front.

"Hi, umm I'm actually looking for unisex baby clothes."
