"Mommy," she started crying.
"Come to mommy. It's okay honey. Your aunt is just mad at him because they used to be friends and then got into an argument."
"Like the one you and daddy had?"
"Yeah sweetie, like the one me and daddy had and you see? We're okay now. Do you want to go home with Aileen and mommy and daddy will be there shortly?"
"Okay mama."
"Aileen, please take her home and we will meet you there."
"I hope by "we" you don't mean him as well because if he shows up, I am leaving."
She took Lilli and walked off to the car. Omg! I couldn't believe the mess we were in. But...what was I supposed to do? Let's just assume for a second that he was actually telling the truth and that he actually wanted to help me find him, how could I not take the chance???
I was also aware that everything he was saying could be a lie and that by trusting him I would be putting my whole family at risk. I had no idea what to do but either way I felt like I was going to end up hurting someone and I couldn't handle that.
At the rate I was going, I was going to lose everyone in my life by the time I found him.
"Madisyn, we need to go home."
I looked at Jake and looked at the man standing in front of me. I was either going to walk away with Jake and go back home or I was going to give this man a chance and start working with him.
I had no idea what to do or which direction to turn, at least I didn't until he spoke.
"Here is my number. You can call me when you make up your mind. I don't want to pressure you into making any decisions right now but I just want you to know that I honestly want to help you. I have nothing to lose, I'm a dead man regardless. But, you have a lot to gain. So think about it and when you're ready, contact me."
"Okay I will. I really hope you won't make me regret my decision because this time, I won't be so nice."
"No!!! This time I'm going to make sure to be the one to take care of you" exclaimed Jake.
He had a point and I understood his frustration, I was frustrated myself. I just didn't see any other way to end any of this.
Once we got home, it was time to go to the restaurant that we had made reservations for. I could tell you that half of us weren't in no mood to go but we didn't want to cancel again after waiting for this for so long.
"You guys go ahead, I'll wait here at home. My head is hurting" said Aileen.
"Can you guys give us a minute? We'll meet you in the car" I asked.
"Okay we'll be waiting for the both of you" said my dad as he looked at us thinking that we had gotten into an argument.
It wouldn't be our first time. My sister and I had our share of arguments throughout the years. But, this wasn't just our typical argument, this was something completely different and way more serious. When she finds out that I have decided to give him a chance to work with us, she was never going to forgive me. I couldn't blame her, if I was in her place I don't think I would have forgiven me as well. She still had trauma from that night and now I was expecting for her to just be okay with him being around and "helping" me out.
"Aileen, I am so sorry. I never meant to hurt you. I just don't have any other way to find who is being all this."
"Was all that a lie that night? Was it some kind of show that you were torturing him? Because if it was, great job, I sure fell for it."
