Driving Away

Silas grabbed the man off the ground in a way which made it seem like he was ten pounds, looked at me and said "go outside with Lilli and take her to your dads house"

I ran outside where Lilli was.

"Can you unlock the door for me sweetie?"

She unlocked the door and I sat down in the car and looked at her. I swear she must have been made out of steel or something because she was totally calm and sitting there as if nothing had just happened.

"Are you okay honey? I'm so sorry that I didn't mean to scare you. He didn't know you were in the house. It's just for a job mommy is doing."

"Yeah I'm okay."

"Okay good. How about I go and take you to a very special place with someone you are going to love?"

"But it's past my bedtime," she said.

"It's okay we have an exception tonight. Plus, I'm sure you will love it there so maybe we can sleep there tonight. What do you say?"

She nodded her head as I began to drive.

On the outside I had to make it seem like I was okay but on the inside I was having a complete meltdown. My hands were shaking, my heart ran racing and I could feel my throat getting tighter like I was running out of breath. I couldn't believe that we could all have been dead in the blink of an eye. For someone as evil as that man was, I was glad he at least had the decency to push Lilli out before he shot Viktor.

Oh God, Viktor!!!

If any of them had seen this coming there is no way they would have been unarmed. But, it was kind of hard to be armed at all times with a child in the house.

Suddenly, I heard a phone ringing in the car. I looked around trying to see where it was coming from and I noticed that it was coming from the glove department of the car. I carefully opened it and saw the phone. I grabbed it and noticed a call from my cell phone.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hey, you left your phone here. Do you know how to get to your dad's house?" Asked Silas.

"Yes I do. I remember from when I went with Viktor. Speaking of which..."

"He's fine. He got hurt pretty badly but he's going to be okay."

"And the..."

"Drop Lilli off at your dad's house and I need you to come right back here. We have a problem on our hands."

Oh great! Just fantastic. This is all I needed on top of the shitty life I was already having. Jake was mad at me, Silas and Lilli hated me now and some random ass man just nearly killed us all. Amazing!

I turned around to look at Lilli who was sitting in the back seat way too quietly. She might not have looked freaked out on the outside but I knew that on the inside she was just as scared as I was. What the hell was I thinking about bringing my child here? Yes, I had missed her like crazy and I wanted her by my side at all times but I should have known that this was a mistake. I should have known better than to bring her anywhere near me until all this was over and done. But, the problem was that I didn't know when this was going to be over or if it ever would be?

After driving, we finally pulled up to my dad's house. I'm sure that Viktor or Silas had contacted him and let him know that we were coming because as soon as I pulled up, he came outside to greet us. When I tell you I have never seen my dad more happier and heartbroken at the same time than when he saw Lilli, I mean it. His eyes immediately filled up with tears as soon as he laid his eyes on her. But, how could he not? He probably thought he would never get another chance to see her again and here we were.
