With the help of Louis Carmichael, Mallory Shepherd and Alex Karev were able to purchase their first home as a married couple. It was in the suburbs that was closest to the hospital, with the big backyard that they had been wanting.

The new five-bedroom home was enticing to both of the surgeons, who had been eagerly wanting to upgrade from their tiny apartment. The shift to the house was a big one, leaving them unsure of what to do with all of the space they had seemingly acquired overnight.

Say you're in the OR...

There were boxes scattered across the main floor of the house, with some things partially unpacked from their boxes, while others were still completely taped shut. And as they continued to work, Alex and Mallory tried to unpack whenever they could.

"Okay, I just put Charlie down for a quick nap," Mallory told her husband as she joined him in the dining room that was connected to their kitchen. "We should be able to get some of this kitchen unpacked."

"Well," Alex shrugged his shoulders as he replied. "That sure is an optimistic mission."

"I swear that it wasn't this hard when I moved into the apartment," Mallory was quick to insist. "It felt like I got it all done within a day."

"Sure, but that was a two-bedroom apartment. This is a five-bedroom house," Alex reminded her. "Between the stuff you pulled out of storage, the stuff Wilder and Holly sent, and the stuff we already had, we'll be unpacking for the next year."

Repairing a vena cava, when suddenly, everything goes to hell...

While they went through the different boxes that they planned to get unpacked for the kitchen, Carter flew past them, running around the island that was in the middle of the kitchen, which only made his parents shake their heads.

"Carter, I need you to sit down," Mallory told their son. "I'll get you some cereal if you sit down—"

"No!" Carter interrupted to shout. "I want pancakes!"

"Well, that's too bad," Mallory retorted with a raised brow. "It's been too busy of a morning for pancakes. You can have cereal."

"No!"

Just then, the sound of Charlotte crying came through the baby monitor. All Alex could do was let out a sigh as he grabbed the monitor, holding it up to his wife, who looked defeated in her mission of getting unpacked.
