I had a terrible day.
We say it all the time...
A fight with the boss, the stomach flu, traffic...
That's what we describe as terrible when nothing terrible is happening.
As their night at Joe's bar continued, Mallory Shepherd and Alex Karev continued to sip on their drinks as they enjoyed the company of Meredith Grey and Cristina Yang, the four of them thinking back on their intern year.
"I haven't thought about George for a long time," Mallory admitted with a shake of her head. "Has anyone heard from Izzie?"
"She's an oncologist not far from here," Meredith was the one to answer. "She says that she visits with Mrs. O'Malley from time to time, but it's hard, you know?"
"I can only imagine," Mallory nodded along. "There's a reason why she hasn't been back. Hell, when he passed, it made me not want to come back."
"Seattle Grace Mercy Death," Cristina added next. "Your husband said it all."
Alex shrugged his shoulders as he insisted. "After you and your wife get shot in the same day, it sure does give it its name."
"Hey, I haven't heard much about my niece," Meredith spoke up, turning to her brother and sister-in-law as she questioned. "How's Charlotte?"
"She's great," Mallory answered with a smile. "She has started to have an attachment to Alex, but that's almost to be expected. He has that touch when it comes to babies."
"Plus, it leaves her time to handle Carter," Alex explained, making sure to add that she did just as much as he did. "We work pretty well as a team. But besides that, it's two under two, I'm sure you could guess."
All Mallory could do was chuckle as she agreed. "He does make a good point. When there are two of them, one of them is always bound to be upset. And there's the toddler tantrums, but it's all part of the adventure."
"Wow," Cristina shook her head as she questioned. "How are you guys feeling about the fact that Evil Spawn Junior is about to be two?"
"He's getting so big," Alex admitted, finding it hard to believe that Carter was already about to turn two. "It's hard to think that he's not the same size as Charlie. It's like the past two years have flown by before my eyes."
