As babies, we were easy.
One cry meant you were hungry...
Another, you were tired.
It's only as adults that we become difficult...
We start to hide our feelings, put up walls. It gets to the point where we never really know how anyone thinks or feels.
Without meaning to, we become masters of disguise.
In the residents' lounge, Owen Hunt had all of the fifth-year residents gathered in front of him for another meeting where he would give them another speech, and all of the residents looked less than thrilled to be there.
"Fifth year is the hardest year of your residency," Owen stressed to the residents that had managed to show up on time. "Every surgery you do will go on your record, the wins and the losses. In just a few months, you will—"
When Meredith Grey walked in, running late, she had on a pair of light pink scrubs. The moment she walked through the door, everyone's eyes focused on her scrubs as she sat in between Mallory Shepherd and Cristina Yang.
Meredith put her things down as she questioned. "What did I miss?"
"Just Owen blabbing," Mallory answered with a shrug of her shoulders. "Ooh, those pink scrubs are cute. You know, those were the only thing that made me consider choosing Addison when it came to specialties."
"Hold on, you're OB now?" Jackson asked with furrowed brows. "How the mighty have fallen, huh?"
"She misses Zola," Alex pointed out. "Her uterus hurts."
"Hey," Cristina objected to his comments. "Leave her alone."
Mallory only chuckled as she retorted. "Why? So you can pick on her?"
While Owen continued with his speech, stressing different things that he said, the residents continued with their conversation. And when Meredith turned back to her best friend, she knew that she also didn't approve of her scrubs.
"I am perfectly happy with what I am doing," Meredith insisted when she noticed the look on her best friend's face. "I'm getting to deliver babies. I'm making life, you know?"
"Yeah, you know what? You're making me gag," Cristina bluntly replied. "Slumming it in OB for a few weeks is okay. But wearing the vagina scrubs in public? I mean, we have standards."
