Chapter 10: War

ALL- What is it good for?

The warning howl sounded three times, and Rain rushed over to Finn,

H- Wait, like Star Wars Finn?

who seemed like he was searching for his buddy too. "Finn!" "Rain!" they exclaimed. "We have to get ready." Finn said.

"I-I know, but I don't think I'm ready,

Finn. I feel all different kinds of emotions! I don't want to kill anyone, but I know we must win this war!"

L- I think you should SUCK IT UP!

"That's ok! We'll be side by side the whole time bud! We will win this, and we will prevail! We will not lose, but we shall win!" Finn said confidently as he put a paw around his buddy. ARWOOOOOOOO! ARWOOOOOO! ARRWOOOOOOOO! That was the warning howl. Almost on cue, everybody rushed out of their dens, practiced one more time,

R- Hey, there's a war, I don't think this is the time for practice.

and went out on the battlefield looking much better than they did the last time. The pack put on their game faces. Everybody was there, except for Lupa and Koda and Caydence's five pups. Lupa and Koda were protecting them by the river, where they'd made a shelter. The pack decided not to train the newborn pups, they would take the longest and wouldn't be ready for this war. The sheltered wolves had rolled themselves in water to wash off their scents. Now they were hidden away, not letting anyone in but their own pack members. Here we go, an anxious Rain thought. Five minutes later, the Shadowpath pack arrived.

C- They're so evil they can't even arrive on TIME!

When Lupa heard the howl, she warned Koda to get the pups. When Koda went to get the pups, he made sure that Lupa was building or already built a shelter. She'd said yes, and Koda grabbed Caydence and Canyon's pups and hurried back to the shelter. They hid while the others were clawing, biting, and scratching away.

L- Oh, wow, wow, wowie I guess.

Lunar was chosen to fight and so was Rain. As a healer, she felt empathetic for her friend. Rain was shy, and loved everyone.

L- Tell, don't show!

She could tell how much he hurt inside.

C- Oh, so all of a sudden you can READ MINDS?

Lunar went over to him for a little talk. "Hey Rain, I can tell that you are scared and don't want to hurt anyone. I have some ideas, if you wanna hear them." Lunar said.

L- Hey... I didn't know you had... Empath powers...

"Oh! Hey Lunar! Y-yeah, I am scared, so yes please tell me your ideas?" Rain asked.

"Ok, so here's my plan: Instead of killing, you knock them out so they are still alive, but they just can't fight." Rain's eyes went wide.

"How did you come up with that?! That's amazing!

H- I love how they've been training for this for so long and YET they realize that killing isn't the only option.

Yes! I am SO gonna do that!" Rain said, a whole new energy sparking him. The day seemed brighter now that Rain was beaming like the sun. Now it was time to fight.
