Chapter 12: Fixed

R- Guess we'll move on without Crow, then.

Scratchpath and Nightclaw fell limp after about half an hour of fighting them. Alpine walked up to her mother, Yuki. "Mommy... I smell bad, right? Like the red stuff?"

L- There's no way the word "mommy" and "red stuff" can be in the same sentence.

H- Yeah, you know a child can't fight if they talk like THAT.

"Yes Alpine dear, but we can use the alpine scent bowl to help!" Yuki said as she trotted over to the alpine scent bowl of twigs. She gently and carefully poured the scent onto her pup, and then spread it in and all around Alpine's fur. Yuki took a big inhale as she breathed her pup's beautiful new scent. "Mmm, you smell so good, darling!" exclaimed Yuki.

L- (a la Alpine) "Thanks, you absolute creep!"

"Thanks mother!" Alpine strutted a pose. "Now, go show your father."

"Yes mommy!" As Alpine ran to her father, she saw the limp bodies of Rain and Nightstare, two of the bravest members of their pack. Alpine sat near them and curled around them. Then, she howled.

H- I thought you were showing your father.

R- Getting a little bit behind schedule.

A mournful howl, yet happy that they had helped to stop this terrible war between the two packs. Let the Star Wolves be with you, Uncle Nightstare and Rain.

"Alpine?"

"Yes father?" Alpine asked after she had finished.

L- "Your mother and I have been talking..."

"Why... nevermind. Oooh...

R- "... Mama..."

that scent sure is strong dear..." Zelda hesitated. He had just come out of the healing hut. "How did you get that scent? It couldn't have been a walk through the forest with your mother. Oh goodness. That scent is a very very very strong smell, Alpine."

ALL- (a la Alpine) "Thanks, you absolute creep!"

"I cleansed her with it. She didn't quite like the smell of the... red stuff..." Yuki made a concerned face, but had a weak smile, partly because her mate was back from healing and was better now.

"Ahh... I see."

R- "Let's clean up the dead bodies first."

"Of course Alpine. Lets go get your-"

"MOMMY!! HElP MEEE!" Eskimo screamed. Yuki looked terrified. ESKIMO!

"ESKIMO! WE'RE COMING!" yelled Zelda. What happened? How? And then he saw them.

R- Who?

L- Them.

Her best friend. The same wolf that trained her during hunting. WHY? Oh and don't forget her brother. Sharpclaw. Sabre and her brother growling like mad at her.

H- AGAIN? We can't catch a break with these two...

What did Eskimo, the most loving pup who EVER EVER lived, do to deserve this. "MOMMY! HELP MEEE!" Eskimo howled again, her voice losing it's sweet shine.
