Gonzo - Iron Man

Y/N's POV:

It's the day of the Iron man challenge where we see who is the fittest out of all of us lifeguards which means whoever wins has bragging rights for a year till the next challenge. I was really looking forward to this as I have been training harder than all of the other boys and I have been doing it all year round. I get to go first as for the last years I have done the challenge I have always been last so I get the first as they think I am slow. What they didn't know is that I have gotten faster with the running and swimming section. I get to have a 2-minute head start because they think that I am really slow but because I have gotten faster I would possibly be 5 minutes in front of them. For the past week, I haven't had to train as hard this week because I need the rest so that I am not in pain for the day of the race.

When I got to work that morning I checked the schedule to see that I am working in the tower all day today which I was fine with as I get to rest for a little bit longer. I brought all of the stuff I need for the challenge today with me so I wouldn't have to go home and get them. I also saw that in the morning I was with Harries, and in the afternoon I was with Gonzo. My cheeks started to go red when I saw Gonzo's name next to mine as I have a huge crush on him. I went to sit down in the chair but as I did sit down Harries turned to me and asked: "Why are you red?"

"No reason. No reason at all." I said whilst lying. The truth was that I have a crush on him. No one knew but I think that the boys do except Gonzo. I don't think that Gonzo likes me the same way because he doesn't talk to me. After all, when we are together I go to talk to him he turns away to talk to someone else. I sometimes look at him through the binoculars when he is on the beach. 

Gonzo's POV:

It was the Iron man challenge day today. I wasn't looking forward to it as Y/N would lose and then she would be complaining about it for a while. When she goes to speak to me I have to turn around and speak to someone else as I couldn't face her because I would be red as I really like her. I didn't know how she felt so I hadn't told her yet, but I have decided that I would tell her after the Iron man challenge as I probably couldn't keep it a secret anymore.

I was down in the centre of the beach today for the whole day. I was thankful that there is hardly any today so when it was time for the iron man challenge I got ready in the changing room. By the time I came back, I only had 3 minutes to plan on what I was going to say to Y/N because I didn't know what I was going to say to her.

Y/N's POV:

Once I had set off I started at a slow pace to make them think that I was still slow at running but once I couldn't see them anymore I started to run really fast and once I had gotten to Tamarama beach I whipped my shoes and top off and then put my goggles on and once I had put them on I dived into the sea and started swimming. When I got between the first and second buoy I saw the others just getting to the beach and taking off their shoes. I also then managed to get to Bronte beach and grab the board just as some of them passed the second buoy. The waves were pelting at me so it was hard to get the board through but I managed to get it through and pass the jet ski by the time Harries and some of the others grabbed the boards. I was paddling along through the water wanting to win this. I knew that the boys managed to get closer but they were far enough for me to keep going at this pace or to go a little bit faster. I decided to go a little bit faster just so they wouldn't catch me up which worked as by the time I got to the beach they were halfway from the beach so I decided to gently jog up to the finish line which I did and by the time I crossed the line Harries was half the way up the beach with Gonzo not that far behind him. I was also glad that I got first place as I got bragging rights for a year which I wasn't going to let down. I was going to brag all I want.

Gonzo's POV:

I was still amazed that Y/N managed to beat Harries, who is the fastest out of us all but I now think that it is Y/N as she beat him by 2 minutes. I remembered what I had to do so I pulled Y/N into the bottom of the tower and said "Y/N, I don't know how to tell you this but I really like you. I have for a while. But I didn't know how you would react and I also don't know if you like me or not. So I just wanted to put this out there. I don't know if that changed anything between us."

"I thought that you didn't like me as you kept turning around when I went to talk to you. But no it didn't change anything. Well, it might because now that you have said that I was wondering if you would like to be my boyfriend." I ask

"Yes, I will be your boyfriend," I say. I pull her forward and kiss her on the lips. When we pulled away we put our foreheads together and I smile. I am thrilled that I have gotten the girl I love, so I pull her into a hug and kiss the top of her head. We both go back to the others so that Y/N could accept her award.
