On the morning of Ayush's birthday, Sameer called him up before leaving for office, "Happy birthday, champion."

Ayush was super excited to receive the first phone call for wishing him, "Thank you. Aapko yaad tha mera bday?"

"Bilkul yaad tha. Tumhare birthday ka main kabse wait kar raha tha. Main toh subah ghar aa ke tumhe wish karna chahta tha." Sameer said genuinely.

"Toh aaye kyon nahi?" Ayush asked with a frown.

Sameer smiled, "Mujhe laga shayad tum so rahe hoge."

"Haww. Itni late tak thodi sote hain. Main toh abhi car mein hun, Naina ke saath apne daycare jaa raha hun." Ayush grinned at Naina, pleased with the projection of being more responsible than her sir presumed him to be.

"Arre waah! Tum toh bade smart ho. Isiliye mere best friend ho... main bhi smart, tum bhi smart." Sameer chuckled.

"Yesss. Hum dono. Aap jab aaoge toh main aapko apna party wala shirt dikhaunga. Usme main aur bhi smart lagne wala hun." His eyes danced as he explained in a happy voice.

After promising him that he would definitely come to see him in the new shirt, Sameer disconnected.

"Aana toh hai hi, Ayush. Na tumse door rehna chahta hun na Naina se door reh paata hun." He stared at a candid picture of both of them which he had clicked on his birthday.

When Naina wasn't in office even after half an hour of him reaching there, he was worried.

"Mujhse pehle nikal gayi thi, abhi tak aayi kyon nahi. Phone bhi nahi pick kar rahi." He rubbed his forehead after his second call also went unanswered.

The intercom buzzed to divert his attention.

"Sameer, Bhopal wale buyers ka call aaya tha. Next week ka time sahi rahega? Ya do hafte aur jaane dein? Unki requirements thodi specific hain toh soch samajh ke time batana padega." Nanu asked in a serious voice.

"Kon Bhopal wale, nanu?" Sameer couldn't place them.

Nanu was surprised, "Yaar, Kaushal and sons... tune hi toh sabse pehle deal kiya tha unke saath. Jinhe hospital staff ke liye wrinkle free blends chahiye."

"Oh haan, yaad aaya. Umm, abhi nahi nanu. I guess unhe month end mein bulate hain. Tab tak production ki date ka idea bhi ho jayega." Sameer squeezed his eyes shut, recalling the details of their requirements.

Nanu sensed his restlessness, and asked in a soft voice, "Kisi baat ki tension hai kya?"

"Woh nanu, abhi tak Naina office nahi pohochi... aur phone bhi nahi utha rahi." Sameer blurted.

Nanu tapped his forehead, "Arre yaar sorry. Main batana bhool gaya... Naina ko full day leave di hai maine. Woh toh lunch ke baad jaane ko keh rahi thi lekin maine insist kiya ki bhai ke birthday ki taiyari ke liye chutti le lo. Parson hi baat ho gayi thi."

"Oh, lekin Naina ne mujhe..." Sameer started to grumble, but the ring on his phone, and the name that flashed brought a wide smile on his face, "Naina ka phone aa raha hai nanu. I'll call you later."

"Hello Naina." He said breathlessly.

"Sorry sir, aapka call miss ho gaya. Main actually Ayush ki party ke liye..." She started to explain in an apologetic voice.

"It's okay, Naina. I was calling up to know ki tum abhi tak office kyon nahi aayi. I wasn't aware you were on leave." He was relieved to hear her voice.

Naina slapped her forehead, realising she had missed out on informing him, "I'm so sorry, sir. Maheshwari sir ne parson kaha ki full day leave le lun isliye maine... but I should have informed you. My mistake."
