Naina wasn't very keen to go for the anniversary party but it would have looked rude had she refused. Also, when she asked her friends at lunchtime, they were invited as well, and were going.

Vedika sighed, "Tere liye toh kitna convenient hai, ghar ke bilkul paas. Hum teeno ka ghar opposite direction mein hai. Raat ko party ke baad cab se ek ghante se zyada lagega. Late night metro milegi nahi. Par yaar, manaa nahi kar sakte na."

Dhruv was more forthright, "Honestly, main manaa karna bhi nahi chahta. Yeh log hamare liye itna kuch karte hain. Humein bulaya hai toh jaana chahiye na. Poore office ko invitation thodi hai, bas kuch logon ko hai. We should be happy."

Farhan agreed with him, "Aur kya. Vedika, hum teeno raat ko ek hi cab se jaane wale hain toh kya tension hai... don't worry, hum tumhe pehle drop kar denge."

Naina looked at Vedika in concern, "Raat ko cab mein koi problem hai kya?"

Vedika shrugged, "Well it's better to be cautious. Why invite trouble. Abhi nahi chahta ki main akele cab se travel karun raat ke time. Agar woh yahan hota toh wohi pick karne aata par woh tour pe hai."

Dhruv looked at her, "You need not worry, Naina. Tum apni car se aa sakti ho. Par aana zarur."

Naina thought for while, then suggested, "Cab toh wapas jaane ke liye loge na... shaam ko tum sab mere saath chalo. Ready hoke mere ghar se hi hum saath mein chalte hain."

Vedika brightened at her offer, "Good idea. Yahan ke washroom mein ready hone se better tere ghar chalte hain."

Farhan and Dhruv opted to go directly from office, saying that they just needed to change a shirt, and wouldn't want to trouble her.

At her place in the evening, Naina wasn't able to decide what to wear.

"Waise toh anniversary party ek formal occasion hai lekin wahan kisi ko jaante nahi. Over nahi lagna chahiye na." She eyed the dresses she had spread on the bed, asking for help from Vedika.

"Isliye main toh suit leke aayi hun. Any suit with a heavy dupatta is fine." Vedika pulled out a dark blue from the bag she was carrying.

Naina thought of the white one she had worn day before, but remembered her mom's words... that white wasn't considered good for auspicious occasions. She didn't have any other simple suit... just two heavy ones, which mumma had bought once when they had gone to Chandigarh.

"Naina, yeh dress achha hai. Black looks formal, aur over bhi nahi hoga." Vedika pointed at a combination of skirt and crop top.

The decision turned out to be perfect when Naina stepped out of her room in the evening. The floral long skirt, paired with plain black crop top was simple, yet classy. Its delicate net sleeves gave her a dreamy semblance, and a similar black net layer over the skirt made it look dainty yet graceful. With black open toed heels, the outfit seemed to be ideal for a summer evening party. She had pinned her hair on the sides, leaving the rest fall over her shoulders. A little eye makeup, and darker lips made her look even more enchanting.

"Naina, aaj itni pretty lag rahi hai ki agar tera boyfriend hota na toh aaj hi shaadi kar leta." Vedika chuckled, after letting out a slow whistle when she saw her.

"Please Vedika, maine pehle bhi kaha hai mujhse aisi baatein mat kiya kar. Yeh boyfriend aur shaadi wagerah ke jokes mujhse bardaasht nahi hote." Naina said stiffly.

"Okay baba, nahi bolungi. But I mean it when I say that you look absolutely gorgeous." Vedika gave her an admiring look.

"So do you. Bohot achha lag raha hai yeh suit tujhpe." Naina eased, praising genuinely.
