Chapter 23

The unit were all at the bullpen. Jay was anxiously banging his foot on the floor.

"Halstead? Your gonna create a hole in this floor..." Adam replied.

Jay apologised, and noticed Cassie run up the stairs.

"JAY!" Cassie shouted.

Jay smiled, and crouched down.

"Hey! How's my girl?" Jay asked.

Cassie looked up, and sobbed.

"Baby? What's up? Why are you crying?" Jay whispered.

Cassie sniffled, and blew her nose.

"I-I don't like it at the centre. People are rude!" Cassie babbled.

Jay got up, and lifted Cassie into his arms.

"Louise? What's this? What's going on?" Jay questioned.

Louise sighed, and handed Ashlyn over to Erin.

"Some of the kids started picking on Cassie..." Louise started.

Jay looked up, and replied.

"And. You let it happen? Cassie's been moved from an abusive home. And now she's experiencing the same abuse! You need to sort it! Now!" Jay ordered.

The unit all stayed silent, and moved in when they needed to.

"I-It'll take t-." Louise stopped.

"I don't care! If you don't sort the arrangements out now! I'll have no option but to take Cassie and Ashlyn into my care..." Jay threatened.

Louise nodded, and tried grabbing Cassie.

"Hey! My Partner's gonna look after the girls. I'm not releasing them into your care, until I know, their gonna be safe..." Jay explained.

Louse pulled her phone out, and walked into the meeting room.

"Jay? Me and Ash are hungry!" Cassie rubbed her tummy.

Jay crouched down, and rubbed Cassie's shoulder.

"Go in the breakroom, and Erin's gonna make you a sandwich." Jay smiled.

Cassie nodded, and walked away with Erin and Ashlyn.

After. The breakroom door closed. Louise turned to Jay.

"I've spoken to my manager. He's gonna sort it out!" Louise confirmed.

Jay nodded, and crossed his arms.

"Good! I'm pleased! The girls are gonna have lunch here. I'll drop them back at the centre..." Jay nodded.

Louise didn't know what do, she knew it was against protocol, but she didn't give two shits.

"Fine! Bring them back by five!" Louise ordered.

Jay nodded, and walked into the breakroom.

"Jay! Wanna have some chocolate bananas? Erin said. "There good protein!" Right?" Cassie asked.

Jay laughed, and sat Cassie on his lap.

"Yep! Correct!" Jay smiled.

Cassie smiled, and Erin fed Ashlyn.

"What are you gonna do. Babe?" Erin asked.

Jay took a breath, and felt Cassie move around on her lap.

"I don't know? I wanna look after them! It's hard..." Jay sighed.

Erin gently placed Ashlyn's head on her shoulder, and winded her.
