The following day arrived, and Jay was being discharged from the hospital.

Jay remained asleep while Erin gathered his clothes.

"Mama? Why is daddy still sleeping? Isn't it time for him to come home?" Ashlyn inquired.

Erin glanced at her husband, his head hidden beneath the covers.

"He's in pain and needs rest, baby girl. Go put on your monkey boots," Erin directed.

Ashlyn nodded and waddled over to Erin's bag.

After Erin folded Jay's shirt and jeans. She walked over to him.

"Babe? I got your clothes. Do you wanna get dressed?" Erin asked.

Jay woke up and checked his watch.

"Mmm? Yeah. Sure?" Jay nodded.

Erin slid her hand under Jay's upper back and helped him sit up.

"Whoa!" Jay mumbled.

Erin gently laid Jay back down, and he placed his hands on his forehead.

"Got up too quickly!" Jay whispered.

Erin nodded and carefully dressed Jay in his jeans.

Once the jeans were on, she went under his gown to fasten his button and belt buckle.

Jay sat up while Erin untied the gown straps and carefully positioned the top over his head.

"Looks like I'm leaving the hospital like this?" Jay nodded in agreement.

Erin then guided the top through Jay's arms and smoothed it down over his body.

"There you go," Erin said with a smile.

Jay returned the smile and leaned on Erin's shoulder.

"You can go back to sleep, babe," Erin soothed.

Jay sighed drowsily and murmured, "If I go to sleep, I have a hard time waking up again..."

Erin nodded, gently stroking Jay's head, "Well, lie down against the pillows so your neck doesn't get stiff," she advised.

The moment Jay's head touched the pillows, he fell asleep instantly.

His phone buzzed. Erin picked it up.

1 New Message - Angela

Erin picked up the phone and carefully lifted Jay's finger to capture the fingerprint.

The phone unlocked, and Erin clicked on the message that was yet to be opened.

Angela:

I need some help...
Andy's gone mad!

Erin set the phone aside and softly nudged Jay's arm.

"Babe?" Erin whispered.

Jay sighed and turned to his wife.

"First, you insist I sleep, and I do. Second, you wake me up!" Jay exclaimed.

Erin gave Jay his cell phone, leaving him puzzled.

"How did you unlock—?" Jay began but halted.

"Just read it..." Erin insisted with a sigh.

Jay perused his sister's message and stood up, resolved.

"We need to go!" Jay ordered.

Erin grabbed the bags and handed Jay his sliders.

"You can't go out without shoes on!" Erin replied.

Jay slipped his sliders on and left the hospital.

"I haven't discharged you yet?" Connor started.
